    Ducati

Ive been eyeing up the Ducati 749 dark superbike...And I think Im going to pick one up.

I want to get some performance parts for it too, so if there are any recomendations there...

Also, this is going to be my first bike Ive owned (Ive ridden tons of Honda mid-80s Shadows though, and a few Yamahas which i dont know the model of), Do you think its a good choice? Ive sat on one, and it felt GREAT, perfect fit for me...

    Thanks

EDIT: Ive also ridden a Monster, and it felt nice, but not as ice as the superbike

Just for info before we can judge, how much riding experience do you have? Honestly for owning a first bike, you might want something you would be less disappointed with if you put it down, especially since I'm gonna guess you'll be riding it fairly hard. But its hard to judge something like that, Im also going to assume you have a fair bit or experience since you are considering a ducati for a first bike. I guess if you like how it feels, and you feel comfortable riding it, theres no real reason why you shouldn't buy it. So be safe and have fun out there with a new bike.

Ive grown up around shadows, and have been riding them around the the block for years now...

BTW my brother is considering getting a monster from a friend, and I got to ride it then, and as said before, I loved it, mostly the feel of sitting on the structure of ducatis, but sitting on the 749 it fit like a glove on micheal jacksons hand

749ccs of V-twin isn't really that much, power-wise. On the riding position, you may find it somwhat uncomfortable for long rides and rides where you are not turning much.

There's also the matter of adjusting the desmodromic heads on a regular basis. It's not really something you want to do yourself, unless you are a pretty competent mechanic.

There are a ton of performance parts made for the 749/999 types. New cans, a Power Commander, and brake pads are quite popular tidbits to install/play with.
          God gave you a soul.
          Your parents, a body.
          Your country, a rifle.

          Keep all of them clean.
