Because the world is not that simple, is it? I suspect you know that, besides trying to sound all e-cool and e-macho

The law is a joke half the time, and the other half it's just downright dumb ... this world is certainly *not* some perfect little Leave it to Beaver 1950's black and white world. It's a shame really, but the law isn't something to be respected, it's simply something to be avoided.

I do too lol All kidding aside, how does that invalidate the truth?

I've been on both sides of the law, and I know how it works. I stand behind everything I've said. That is why I wrote "I suspect you know that". I've heard the rhetoric before and recognised it.

With that being said, I know there are genuinely good police officer out there, since I know some personally. I do understand why good cops have to look the other way when it comes to bad cops because that's how the world works. It sucks but hey. It would be great if integrity took precedent over playing the game but it doesn't.

How did this turn into a discussion of good cops and bad cops? He passed on the shoulder, which is obviously illegal wherever he is. Cop saw it, and gave him a ticket. Doesn't matter if 15 other people did it, cop can only get one at a time. That whole "everyone else was doing it" argument doesn't fly in court. The police officer did NOTHING wrong. No power trip, no abuse of power, nothing.

That having been said, if its your first offense, and you go to court, some jurisdictions allow the judge to send you to driving school and have the ticket removed from your record.

HAHA... I was riding with my brother in law in some backwoods hick town in Tennessee one day going white water rafting. Mind you we were pulling a pretty big fifth wheel trailer.

This car stops in front of us, he drops it onto the shoulder, never slows down, and blows by them - said car turns on light (unmarked police car).

Older Sherriff walks up, looks at him "you made my wife spill her coffee" I was like uh-oh. I got mutliple memorable quotes from him that day, and man did I think hick-town.

                "where you boys from?"
"we don't drive like that in Tennessee"

He didn't get a ticket, but FUNNY

Oh I could care less what people think of MY posts. I just like pointing out the fact that going on the internet and complaining about getting a speeding ticket is pretty lame. Just suck it up and pay the fine, if you disagree with the ticket, get a public defendent and try to get it lowered. Stand in front of the judge and tell him what you said on here? Guess what, you WON'T! Why? Because you know you're wrong. So STFU and GTFO -------------->

and DIAF while you're at it. kekekekekekke ^_^

DON'T suck it up and DON'T simply give up and take it. Fight the ticket. This is the United States of America and it's your right.

The powers that be love it when you lay down and let them walk all over you. It's good for business. Putting bad guys in jail costs money, handing out tickets like they're candy raises money. It's just that simple. There's a good chance the cop won't bother to show up, or the judge might actually be a decent guy and let you off. The worse thing that's going to happen is that you have to pay the ticket anyway.

So STFU, GTFO, AEIOU or XYZZY ... whatever. The "law" is a game, that's all it is, learn how to play it. Right and wrong have (almost) nothing to do with it. Do you think OJ was innocent?

ok so the kids passed on the right SHOULDER and people are telling him to fight it?? Honeslty what is this world coming to.. that is so very dangerous.. with all the debree and gravel that is on a shoulder it is so very easy for your tires to lose thier grip at high speeds causing the driver to lose control.. I don't care how good of a driver you are there are certain situations that you can not handle a car, this being one of them (think hydroplaning too).. Not to mention that you could have frightened another driver by coming up on that side which would have caused them to over react and possibley cause an accident...

Wanna know what you should do, Go pay the damn ticket and thank God that no one was hurt by yours and others stupidity... Me thinks that maybe your mother needs to rethink encouraging such disregard for laws.. They are put into place (for the most part) to keep ppl safe.

there was a law that was going through the state house or rep when I lived in utah that said if someone between the age of 16-19 recieved a ticket (other than parking violation) that they would then have to retake the drivers ed course... Honestly I thought this was a great idea being that if a teenager does not start driving with responciblity then for life they will think that they can get away with everything..

what? im sorry, but that would have no effect besides wasting money and time. and pissing the hell out of teenagers. ive taken drivers ed, and it was helpful... but helpful in teaching you how to drive. it would not be helpful at all to take it again. anyway, what youre talking about is essentially kids being idiots and speeding. drivers ed would not help this at all, whatsoever, in any way. the only thing that would help is a cop pulling them over, and giving them a ticket. and anyway, cops often target teenagers and it is a common occurance that a teenager will get a ticket going, say, 35 in a 30... can you honestly tell me youve never sped by 5 mph? or that you would spend 3 years without speeding by 5 mph? hell, my drivers ed teacher told me about the time he was going to his girlfriends house and pulled over for going 25 mph over the speed limit. the only situation in which what youre proposing would be justified is for the kind of teenagers that think its cool to go 60 MPH down a residential road. which is a very small percentage of the teenagers that get tickets.

were you on the shoulder? if so, then yets you were..

I stand by my thoughts.. I started driving when I was 15 1/2 (at that time you were allowed to get your learners permit at that age). and honestly I was very careful. I had quite a few freinds who played around while driving and hurt themsleves. I also had 2 of my best friends who were killed shortley before my 16th birthday beccuase they were speeding on the interstate.. When you first start drivng it is not seconds nature to react to certain situations. That is something that comes with experience.. I think that if there is a fear instilled in a teenager that they will indeed lose thier licence and hav eto retake drivers ed, that they might think twice about doing stupid things.. FYI althought it does happen, 5mph over is not strickly enforced... If parents would stop footing the bill for their irresponcible children then i think the younger drivers would learn. But as it is now a days a kid get a ticket and what happens? alot of it goes back to the parents.
When I told my mom about it, she asked if I wanted to frame it. She was joking of course, but it would be pretty funny to do.
I did not recieve my first ticket untill i was 21.. in the past few years as i have become less organized and late to more things I have gone to speeding alot especially when i was on the turnpike or on my way to work...But wanna know somehitng after getting 2 tickets withing a 6 week period and having to take a special course I now think twice and have become a more defensive driver.

it was a single lane road, but wide. the person pulled over to the left (to let me pass) and i stayed on the pavement. but that is a single time. youre saying its unsafe and stupid to do it if you drive on the gravel and debris? well then is it stupid and unsafe to drive down a dirt road?

i am careful driving too. but i still speed by 5-10 mph at times. and i certainly dont think that that is anything to lose your licence over. again, the only thing i think having to take the course over would be justified for is excessive speeding (when idiots decide to go like 60 in a residential area or 90 on the highway) or repeated speeding in a small time period (in our state if you get two tickets in the first 6 months, you lose your licence). and no, i dont think having that law would make the kind of people that go 90 on the highway stop.
