    What Tattoo Should I Get

I'm 18 soon, and I'm gonna have my bro's friend do a tat for me, I just cant decide what I want. I was thinking about take Brandon (singer from Incubus)'s tattoo from his forearm, and having my guy make it more original, for my calf.

My second choice was having the word noble in Japanese (Kanji). I don't have a pic of it right now but my friend's grandma is fluent in Japanese and could write it out for me. It is 4 symbols. If I got that I would want it down my calf or between my shoulder blades. (rotated 90 degrees clockwise)

The next is one of my other brother's tattoos. (original peice, about a yr old, same guy)

EDIT: The work above was $70, and he uses good ink too.

You should get the one that YOU want...not the one that people on the internet choose for you.

I vote for all three, BTW.

Don't ask me, I wont have to look at it every day for the rest of my life. Think about it. Every day. I read somewhere that a guy with all these tats said you should get the design you are dying to have inked on your arm and keep it in your wallet. Look at it when you're getting dressed, brushing your teeth, driving to work/school. Going to your wedding. You childs first day of school. Think about it. For the rest of your life. With that said, make sure its something that YOU want and is specail to YOU

I don't really like any of em' either. The top one is alright but you gotta do somethin' original.

lol. That "noble" you just showed us is freakin katakana. It says "no-buru" aka engrish for noble. lol, if you really want the real noble kanji then you've got to do a better job lookin it up.

Man i was gonna say that.

Kanji as a tat is played out tribal designs and symbols are more meaningful at least to me

Kanji's not any more played out than tribal. Either way, all tattoos are worthless unless they actually mean something to the owner.
I can't tell you how many times I've asked someone what the significance of their tat is and gotten the reply of "it just looks cool, dude!"

As long as it means something to you I dont care what you get. I mean I was watching 'INKED' tonight on A&E (my new addiction since I'm a tattoo junkee) and this lady got a really trendy butterfly. BUT... she got it because she left her husband after an abusive relationship and she felt it was time to finally spread her wings and live. Thats a meaningful tattoo... no matter how many people have it.

I have MIND BODY SPIRIT going down my right leg w/ a wrap of tribal around it. It symbolizes confusion (the tribal) of life and inner peace holding it all together. Its hard to explain... but it does mean something to me. I had a rough time w/ 'me' for a long time. Very confused upset person... then I found my inner peace with myself and I'm kosher. Like I said... its hard to explain.

Here's the pic the artist took after doing the kanji.

I've had it for about 5yrs now since its been done and amazingly the red is just as red. It didn't fade or bleed. I was quite impressed w/ the ink and my skin taking it so well.

I'm with the crowd don't get something if it don't mean anything to you.
Several of my buddies have some wicked tats on them. And they always come up to me and say I should get a tattoo. I told them that I don't have anything of significance that would require me to tattoo it on. It use to be a rite of passage or act of rebellion for someone to get a tattoo. To ask a general population of ppl who don't know you to choose a tattoo for you is just lame. I've never understood the need to feel cool by doing something that you have not bought into. I guess that is why I don't have a tattoo, piercings, suped up car or anything else "kewl". If it is something that is significant in your life more power to ya, but that is a decision you should be making not a democracy on what goes on your body.

In general japanese/chinese writting is VERY hard to get right cause every symbol has its own meaning of the word.

In the 3 on my leg 'mind body spirit' it took a LONG time of research and confirming w/ places that they were the right symbols cause 'mind' has like 40 different translations depending on the meaning. To get the spiritual meanings right I had to spend about 3 weeks worth of research and confirming.

buy a few tattoo, savage and flash mags and see what you like best, tats are something not to rush into, if you are really wanting to do something, get a peircing, they are a lil less permanent and you can get used to the stupid questions and stares you get.
tribals and kanji are so played out and stupid, i wont voice my opinions on them though, just make sure you really want a tattoo and it reflects you, and not someone else. the tat i got is a skull with 3-eyes, crown of fire, and this big *** grin, nu skool style with really bright colours, and it reflects me, and goes with what i want the theme of my body art to be, violently happy.
                              ahhhhh...errr...ah...ummmm....ackum..erm yeah
