AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
Ah thanks for that link.. I was trying to find it I had remembered stumbling across it in the past. Couldn't find it this time around.
Well I'll just put off getting a new car a bit longer.. I guess I'll just forget about price and get a good camera. (If you want to be happy with any product I've realized you can't worry about price.. find something you like and get it)
Oh you should worry about price. There are things you do not need to spend money on, unless you are using the camera to make money. The mentioned 1Ds mk2 is $8000 for the body alone. And it needs the best glass (lenses) avaliable, since it shows the weaknedd in the optical design of most anything made with an EF mount on the market.
If you want to spend a bit more (like 3+ times what your original budget was) I would strongly suggest looking at a Canon Digital Rebel XT, or a used Digital Rebel. Getting into a DSLR will be a much better option longterm (if you are more concerned with image quality/flexibilty than size/compactness). Use the kit lens for starters, and you can upgrade as you needs/wants grow.
Memory cards are inexpensive, takes good pictures and has movie with sound, limited to the size of your memory card. I have a 5 MP DX4530, its a good camera, if a bit bulky.
edit: if you are looking for a big memory card, sony's memory sticks are close to twice the price of SD cards. A local retail store sells SD cards 128mb - 1 gb for $20 - 100 (can get the 1GB sd for around $85 depending on brand)
the 512mb sony memory sticks, depending on which one, run about the price of a 1 GB SD card.

digital
megapixels - these rate the qaulity of ur pictures, the higher the mega pixels, the larger the image will be, also more higher resolution, a 1 megapixel may be fine, but if u plan on making them larger, u will see a significant drop in wuality, picture may seem 'pixelated', out of focus, when u can see pixels " squares that make up image"
zoom- optical zoom, is what u want more of, it a true zoom, and has more definition, u will pay for this, if this is what u want, my kodak dx490, has 10x optical zoon, and its abt 4 bills, i think they have other models tho, digital zoom isnt bad for reg pictures, but i require high standards being a graphic designer
my kodak dx490, has 10 x optical zoom, i forgot the digital zoom, it also has a 512 mb memory stick, that takes over 300 hundred pictures or a half hr of streaming video, with sound, but if u want a camcorder, get 1, this is a camera, the video feature doesnt have a light, so all night videos r out, unless in a well lit area

Just to make sure we don't confuse the op, These are the size of your pictures, and have little to do with the actual optical quality of the pictures. Make sure you look at some sample images before you buy. Megapixels are nice, but mean nothing if you don't have quality optics.
You could look into the Samsung digimax. I have used both Fujifilm, and this camera (and am looking into a more advanced one as of now. It is 3.2 megapixals. Which is a great size unless you plan to print out banners, or posters. It takes unlimited length of video...the only hinderance is the size of your card (expect about 2-3 minutes from a 32mb).
This is a GREAT camera for the price (I got mine for about $200), but the only problem I have is the slow shutter speed...but to from my experiance that is the problem with most cheaper digital cameras. If you want I could let it go for about half the price I bought it for with all the extra stuff (new card, card reader, ect).
well Im not a camera expert, but if I am going to spend $500 on a camera, I would want something with more than just a 4x optical zoom.. but otherwise it looks nice. but definately get someone else's opinion..
just like a paintball marker, try to find one in a store and see if you like how it works and what not.

In general the more the range of the zoom lens, the lower the quality of the optics. A 10x zoom range is a hugly complex design to get right. The G6 is a great camera. High quality optics, high res, good processing, RAW storage. The range of the lense is the way it is for a reason. If that's not interesting, look at the Canon S2 IS. You lose the RAW capability on that, but gain a large IS zoom lense.
The G6 is a GREAT camera. When I am ready to buy a new P&S camera it will more than likely be a G6 or what ever replaces it. The great thing about this camera is it's a great P&S camera, but it also has full manual modes with it. So if you decide you want to try some artsy type photography, you can do it.
