cost of chicken!

I read in the news paper that the cost of Chicken will go up. Supposably when Katrina came through it killed alot of chickens and now we will have to pay more for chicken...

Its pretty wierd that now we have to pay more for chicken because of a hurricane.

Hell, i wont even be able to buy chicken. The price of gas will be like 10 dollars a gallon and chicken will be 10 bucks at KFC.

But isn't it better to just suck it up and do what you can to help? Instead of worrying about the cost of chicken we could try to see what we can do for the hurricane victims. I know that someone no AO is already auctioning off some of their stuff to give support money for the victims.

I'm still not seeing how me being concerned about the price of gasoline(or for the sake of argument, chicken) in my area has anything to do with my concern for hurricane victims and what support I'm giving them.

I can see both points.

I recently went on a missions trip to New Orleans (late June through early July). We were able to grow close to a lot of kids from the "inner city" (they don't really have one...but they have a lot of poor families). To think about them suffering or possibly dead makes me sick. We tried to contact the place we did the missions trip through to no prevail. It will be several weeks(if not months) until we have any news on any of the people we met, and served there.

But back to the point of this thread. Should we be concerned because the price of gas (and chicken) are rising? Most definatly...unless you have had the privlage of meeting any of the citizens of New Orleans or know some then that is the closest thing that is affecting you. Fine.

I agree with you, and I disagree with you.

Those people were warned plenty in advance to evacuate. Granted, there are thousands of people to be evacuated and sometimes not a lot of places to go, but if everyone would have listened and payed attention to the warnings, it wouldn't have been as much of a deal as it is now.

Don't get me wrong, I feel for all the victims and homeless, but for the people who thought "we'll ride it out" I have little sympathy for.
