AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
Spend more on your kitchen than your audio gear, but spend more on your audio gear than your car. This way you keep the wife happy.
Now, this seems like a good idea for the married guys, but I can only imagine the kitchen in their house, I mean damn, when you go out and spend $20K on a turntable, $10K on an amp and a 3rd mortgage on your speakers I would expect the kitchen to have 24k gold handles on the cabinets

24k gold would be a pain to keep clean.. all that steaking and finger prints showing up...ick.
"You are wonderful, whitty, and wise, but you spend to much time reading this sort of TRASH."
speakers are the second most important part, the source is the most important part.
picasso, or was it michaelangelo, maybe it was gallagher who said:
start with crap, end up with crap.
nomatter how good the speakers are, if the source sucks, well...
and truth be told from a person who has experience at the real source (the recording studio), no matter how fancy foo foo your cables are, the cables used on the guitar, bass amps, mics, mics on the drums, mics on the horns etc. etc. etc. right down to the cables that go from the mixers to the recorders(be they analog or digital) are just ordinary shielded patch cables @ 20-30 bucks apiece for a 20 footer. regular old proco cables. copper and rubber.
Some guy I know was tripping out because I used some 18g speaker wire for power/ground on my electronic xover. "You can do that?"
I roll my own RCAs too when desired.
Speakers/amp/source are equally important IMO. What is really important is the room/car and the intstall. You can buy great sounding equipment but you can't buy a great sounding system.
Although I do admit to being maybe overly attracted to amp headroom. I'm currently driving a 300w 8 inch sub with a 1000watt amp. Hey that's what the gain is for, clipping is bad.
