Alright, my parents just asked me what I wanted for my birthday, (early december) and I didn't really want anything; and every year I havn't wanted anything, so they just get me stuff I like for one day type of deal. I think that is worse than not getting anything, because when you get a gift for someone, you want to see them enjoy it, and I know how bad I feel when I shop for like, 2 hours trying to find perfect gifts for people, spend a fair amount of money and they just try to say"I really like it" when you know they don't...So I told them I wasn't sure what I wanted, but this year I would find out something I wanted...But the catch is, the only thing I want is kind of a bit of money. Before I sound greedy or anything, what do you think is a fair amount of money for a birthday present? And we aren't in any money troubles or anything....

my parents have spent anywhere from $30 to $400 total on me on my previous birthdays. one year they offered to spend $1000 on me for christmas (new paintball gun) but i thought that was too much... how much is apropriate for a present really depends on where you live though, i guess. a guy i met at the field a little while ago at the field thought it was outrageous that my parents spent ~$400 on my one year on my birthday... but my best friend is 15 and already has a car lined up for him. another friend just got his permit and had a car given to him.
id say look at what theyve spent on you in the past, what theyve spent on your siblings (if you have any) or how much your friends parents spend on them, and make a decision based on that.

I've never felt inclined to ask for ANYTHING for my birthday.
I feel the same way about gift giving holidays, but I'm more than happy to give.
ive never really accepted anytthing either.
Ask Specialblend, we got into a good argument about my not accepting his gift.
