Just remember that you get what you pay for. My first car cost me a similar price and was shot in less than six months. The engine just wasn't long for this world. Don't be surprised if you have problem after problem with it

But, for $300 if it lasts you six months its a good deal assuming you do not put much into it. $50 a month is pretty cheap to drive a car.

If it has a blower the engine won't live much longer, I doubt.

If I recall the stock blown Thunderbirds used a blower on top of the 3.8 V6.... not 100% sure on that

I tried to explain to Soopa how expensive cars REALLY are, I don't think he believed me. Boy, is he in for a surprise. When I bought my current truck new, between the down payment, a years insurance, taxes, registration, cap for the bed etc. I spent almost 10k the first day.

I never paid more than $850 for a car until I bought my truck. I always bought luxury cars from old people ... if the radio is set to rock stations the tranny is probably shot lol. Nothing like a pea soup green Delta 88 4 door owned by an 85 year old lady.

correct. The Super Coupes. It was a 3.8L V6 with an M90 supercharger. Now, the T-birds and cougars were also offered with a plain-jane 3.8L V6, but dont mistake them for the same motor, its more complicated than just slapping a blower on one.

My '92 5.0L Thunderbird has 155,XXX hard miles on it, and is running fine. And aside from any "performance" changes I made, I havent had much to do for upkeep. I think I've changed the fuel pump (was making alot of noise, pre-emptive strike on my part), the alternator, radiator, and starter solenoid. Which isnt too bad, its 13 years old, and I've owned it for 3 of them.
