    landfills.

Who knows, maybe in a bajillion year all that fill and garbage will turn into dilitihum crystals or super coal or something

Garbology has actually become an interesting discipline of anthropology. I remember during a recent lecture our professor talking about an anthropologist in Arizona doing digs in landfills. He found evidence of stratification and managed to dig down to what equated to 7 years of fill. At that 7 year mark he found a perfectly preserved newspaper, an edible head of lettuce, edible corn, as well as a multitude of other useable items or edible foods. He set out to test claims of biodegradability made by manufacturers. It turns out that with all of the layers piled on top of one another the lower layers are deprived of oxygen so nothing degrades as it should if at all. Its a pretty interesting study actually.

yeah, its like a time capsule of our crap.

but its most def. an intersting study.

Hmm... maybe I should start doing my grocery shopping at the local landfill. It's only a couple of miles away and I'm out there quite often getting treasures out of the metal pile anyways! :)

Current archeological sites are the landfills and abandonned dwellings of previous civilisations. Why should it be any different for those that will study how we lived?

well, the whole idea of a near perfectly preserved culture is pretty cool. Granted it is all waste material.
