AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
rhetor22 - i hear ya man, my voodoo can hold up prety well. I get frame rates of at least 40 in counter-strike. Not to shabby. I mean you eye only need 24 frames per second to perceve fluid motion.
haha, do you really want a GeForce4 ?! The only reason why many people ( I including ) are so excited is because, the lower video cards such as GeForce 3s and 2s' prices are going to drop. I meen honestly, do you really need a GeForce 4 and I have no doubt that it will be cheap.
Ariestsheft what do you base that 24fps figure on?
You can totally tell the difference between 30 and 60fps. I haven't see a good demo of 60 vs 120, but I would not be surprised if it was easy there.
The advantage of faster and faster cards isn't all fps, you can run higher res and color depth. These days with geometry processing on card you can also run more detailed meshes. The ever increasing mem on card allows higher res textures. All of these improvements make for a more impressive game, and for some are well worth the money.
its a proven fact that your eye perceves motion at 24 frames per second, ive seen documentarys about motion pictures and that is the frame rate needed to have the illusion of motion. to me anything over 70 is overkill, i mean its just eating up speed with frame rate. my little voodoo 3 purrs with about a minimum of 35 and a max of 73. these new cards are just for braging rights in the computer geek circles....
Read it, and you will understand why there is an advantage to having faster video cards than 30fps (totally ignoring the better models/textures a high end video card can support).
