I know whats it like to be on the receiving end of road rage as does my wife. Since we moved to NorCal. I have an older car as a few on this board have seen. Its not much but it is what it is. I don't care for Ricers or Foregin cars of any kind really. I do believe that everyone has their own choice and decision on what they want to drive but they should ALL have respect for others choices as well.
As to the coment earlier on HOME mechanics. I have a 1968 Buick GS400 with Dealer option Stage 1 package. My car is 100% Buick under the hood. as to what it is capable of well lets just say that I had it dyno'd and at the rears I get over 525HP and 650 ftlb torque. It is carb'd and runs on pump gas. I do 11.4 in the quarter with carriny the wheels off the line on street slicks. My car is 100% street legal and a daily driver if I want. It is balanced and blueprinted. And I did all this in MY OWN GARAGE with only the machine work done locally. Bear in mind my car weighs in at 3800+ pounds. my car needs paint but thats about it. You should never under estimate what a home mechanic can do or what a car can do.
Now as to the freaks I have meet out here. I was driving home from work one night in my buick and was followed for a time by a Honda road racer and when I stoped for a soda on the way home he pulled in to comment on my car. But when I turned him down on a road race he got all outa control. Threatend me and my car. He followed me for a few miles after I left the AM/PM in Chico and I guess he called a couple of his friends cause the next thing I knew I was surronded by 3 cars all trying to get me to stop. Rather than risk my car I pulled over to put a stop to these games. They were all around 18 or younger and I am damn near 40. I was scared and was like crap maybe I should have just dropped the hammer and left them sitting and went home. But hwy 32 is not a very safe road and I value my car alot. Anyway, I happened to be able to talk my way out of it by talking to them on their own terms and sayig that if they really wanted to race me then be at the Redding CA raceway in a couple weekends.
Just be carefull when dealing with people like that you never know who they are or what they are capable of. Stay safe and enjoy any car you drive no matter if it is a performance or status vehicle.
