I got a 127 and did NOT read a single question. I was tested in 1st grade and I had an IQ of 136. I use to be smart, if only I knew what went wrong.

Taking mags apart is fun, its even more fun when you don't know what you're doing

Agreed. You cannot tell who they are by the way they look, talk, act... their achievements or level of education - or lack of. Many Mensa types fall into the "you wouldn't have guessed it" category. Some are blatantly obvious... And a lot of people who you might think could make it... by impression... can't.

Personally, I don't think I could do it... in fact, I know I can't. In this I have a certain appreciation for those who can... and admittedly... jealousy at times. You're very lucky if your mind can operate like that.

Then again... what you get from these tests is a very narrow view of a much bigger picture.

i completely agree with it being a very narrow look at one's intelligence, for one reason or another my brain loves the type of problems posed on those tests but doesn't click so well in other areas. when i ran the mensa gamut, i ended up with a 138.

at the time mensa required a 141 for entry, and personally i don't think of myself as near genius level, it just doesn't click right. but then again, who am i to argue with standarized testing as the proper way of judging one's mental capacity and worth

And I am the guy that fell over when i bent over to pick somthing up because my backpack wiehged like 30 pounds, and I am the guy that shot himself in the foot, and also I shot my friend in the leg while taking off the barrel plug. Umm I also went on the feild forgetting to put my bolt back in my gun lol, umm somthing is wrong here.

I took the test a while ago and got a 151 i think... relatively close to the real one i took when I was younger. I been meaning to submit the scores to Mensa, but it seems to me the only real benefits to joining are bragging rights.....

*edit* - Just took the mensa workout, 26 out or 30; those word scrambling things are hard, couldent even answer them! I guess everyones brain just operates differently.

no offense everyone but all those scores sound really high. average in america is 110. even giving everyone credit for being smart enough to have a job and afford a computer it still shouldnt average in the 150s.

Restola- Everyone i know that has taken a real IQ test has scored over 120 and between 120-160ish (only 1 kid got that high) Perhaps there are regional differences that make the average what it is.

there are minor regional deviations, but IQ is largely determined by averages. so, i believe a) people are "shooting 24bps" with their scores b) didn't get there scores off of standardized tests or c) took the tests when they were very young (a 4 year old only has to behave like a 6 year old to score 150).

for the most part, any score received before you turn 16/17 is useless, it just shows how quickly your brain developed to maturity, and is not really and accurate measure of mental capacity.

Synreal- Real IQ tests are scaled based on how old you are, so that a persons IQ can be determined at any age. Also, one IQ changes minimally throughout ones life, save for any traumatic occurances (i.e. brain damage).

i am aware of how a test is scored, your IQ is more or less how you at your age place compared to others at your age. in essence, it is what percentile of your age group you are in.

for example, a child that learns to read a year earlier than another child will (for a time) score higher on IQ tests. does you IQ change very much from say...15 to 50, no, but it can differ greatly from 5 to 20 when most basic information is learned.
