Smart man. Banana for you.Originally posted by MagVakThis is just another attempt at decriminalization of marjiuana. I'm all for it and believe that Denver is going about it responsibly. However it should end at ganja, nothing more. Anyway I'm not sure how federal and state laws effect this ruling. It would make sense that you could still get charged in state or federal court however who's going to press charges on some dude with a jilla rolled up in his cigarette pack, or an ounce worth of jillas...that'd be a lot of jillas.. I doubt any state district attorney, not to mention federal, would ever pursue such a case. We should be freeing up resources and going after the crack, meth, heroin dealers/users in an effort to curb addiction related crime. It's all relative and the dude abides. Go Broncos!
There was a special on pot on the History Channel a few weeks ago. Supposedly there was a man during the 20's and 30's who pushed hard to make pot illegal. I can't remember his name but someone must know about the show I am talking about. Sometime in the 30's he had someone conduct tests on the effects of pot. The man came back showing that smoking weed caused only minor effects to a person's judgement or reaction time. When he went in front of Congress to get the bill passed to make marijuana illegal, everyone was appalled that he would present that kind of testing and they basically tried to keep him from speaking publicly about it again.Comment

I would disagree with you, to some extent. I think his issue with Mexican immigrants had a lot more to do with his Nazi and fascist views than his daughter. Personally, I think pot was more of a scapegoat than an economic thing, but hey, that's just me.Originally posted by kosmoThe war against weed was fought much later than the Spanish-American and first world wars. Pot was legal until 1937, and the true catalyst of both the ruling and Hearst's anti weedishness was the marriage of a Hearst daughter into the heirarchy of Dupont, which had recently invented nylon and was working on what would become modern plastic. Hemp was much cheaper than nylon, and due to its high cellulose content, wouldve provided stiff competition for its petroleum based plastics. Hearst then began a smear campaign utilizing his newspapers and a corporate tool of a politician named Henry Anslinger (who actually coined the phrase "Marihuana" as a racist term to place a negative view on it and the large influx of Mexican immigrants).
Regardless, in conclusion, Hearst was a major catalyst for making pot illegal, and he didn't do it for any "good" reason, even if the criminalization of marijuana is considered a good thing now. That whole family was/is a little wacky, though... Hearst himself was a nutjob, and so were his daughter and granddaughter. He also, according to hemp-industry proponents, was instrumental in publicizing and orchestrating a 1937 oil-and-timber-industry-led media campaign to discredit hemp (an inexpensive petroleum and paper substitute) and marijuana, which led within months to the drug and the plant being outlawed in the United States. Hearst himself reputedly profited due to his interests in the pulp-and-paper business.Comment

i would like to know the same thingOriginally posted by Lohman446?? When did they change the Constitution ??
anyway, it does do much, as you will still get busted with the usual posessions laws there as the police say. Its probably also some town trying to bring in some revenue. if you think about it, that town could become really rich really quick. (pending its not in BF, nowheresville )

If it's legalized, it should be 9 or 10 times more expensive than tobacco, before the taxes. The taxes should make the cigarette taxes look like a joke.
Oh yeah, no more buying from your buddy. This stuff will be more controlled than guns.
