Photoshop? help

here is what i need.

i need a black square box. at least 100*100 pixels... Black in color but it has to be 80% Opaque. NOT solid and NOT transparent! but opaque

i have tried doing so saving my file as a GIF and JPG and such... but does anyone know how to make a 80% opaque black sheet file that will work as a mid lay on a website? i have a backround image set, how ever i have tables. i want the tables backround to be a color but i want it to be opaque. and not overlay the fonts and pictures in the tables.

Both GIFs and JPGs do not support alpha channel. Gif is fully indexed, so it has a transparent color. But a pixel can only be transparent or not, no partial opacity. JPG has not way to represent transparency at all. PNG files have support for full alpha channel, so you could accomplish it with that.

.png supports opacity, and opaqueness...

But i was also under the impression you could set the background color of a table to be 80% transparent, using basic code

yes i figured this out last night that i would have to use CSS? code to do what i want to do. and that i have no fricken clue... basically this is for myspace. i want my table backgrounds to be an opaque black so that the font is easier to read but i still have my background picture.

anyideas to do this on myspace?

In alot of automatic myspace code generators like mygen i believe actually lets you do all of the table editing.

yeah i have that part figured out... hell i have the opaque black... but it goes OVER everything in the tables. but i want the black BEHIND the fonts. this is the hard part as you have to put an image there of some sort blah blah but i cant seam to get the right code (css or something) to make it opaque
