    Apple Care Question

I recently have run into problem with my 12'' iBook.
    Specs are,
12 inch, 30 gig, 768 ram blah blah

I'm damn sure the problem is with my ethernet jack.
I'll plug in to my modem, and no juice. I check the Modem's LED read out? No Signal from das compoot0rz.
if i jiggle it a little (and I am gentle, Im not ready to break it even more) it'll get some signal, but only if I do NOT move it from where it's been placed.

Now. I'm still covered under Apple care.
And i'm dead sure this isn't a result as of mishandling.
This laptop is kept in a padded case unless in use, and it hasn't been dropped, submerged in liquid, burnt, aslpoded, etc.
I don't want to pay for repairs.
    No one does.
it's either take it in, let them look at it and get charged if it's my fault.
    Or...
Buy a wireless router, and stick to using my Airport Extreme card.

    So yeah.
    There's my problem.
    Fix it.
    Now.

    Amendment:
I noticed on the Modem i'm using, there are two outputs.
One is USB, one is the standard ethernet I'm used to.
Is it possible to use the intertron via the USB?

                nope.

But you should still be able to get internet through the USB unless Macs use a Universal Serial BUS differently.

                try it and see?

I disconnected the ethernet cable from the modem, plugged the USB into my ibook and Modem,
                  and reset the Modem.

                  It's 'online' (the modem)
                  And I'm getting Computer activity.

I am stilll unable to get online.

I'll poke around with ym settings.

usually cant use USB for connecting to a cable/dsl modem. unless the manufacturer has drivers for it

as for the ethernet port issue, sounds like there is something that needs to be repaired. You can work around it using airport, but repair solves the issue totally. I would recommend getting it repaired...eventually. If the computer has not been accidentally damaged, shouldnt be a problem.

one thought, have you tried a new ethernet cable? I would recommend that before calling into applecare.
