Need to wire money internationally. Need help.

I need to wire money to a bank in China. Do I need to go to a bank to do this? Can I just go to one of those money gram places? Whats the cheapest and easiest way to do this?

    THANK YOU!!

Nah I know the guy, I'll try western union, I've used them for domestic stuff.

Can they wire it directly to the guys bank instead of another Western Union?

A bank can wire funds. I've seen the phrase "wired money to China from my bank" in numerous fraud schemes.

Banks can wire funds, you need quite a bit of info...

Account number, Adress of Bank, and Person you are wiring too...

My bank charges 40 dollars for an international wire... I'm sure most are in the same ball park.

Pretty much any bank can trnsfer the money, assming the other party has an account there in China. You don't just transfer the money from one bank to limbo in aher bank. You will need the SWIFT, etc...for the other account. Tried looking into TransUnion/Western Union, etc...for transfers?

Yes, I know. I was merely stating where I had seen bank transfers, proving that they can be done.

If you have all the account information like that, you can just call your bank and have them send a draft over to his account. You shouldn't even need to go in person. I have done the exact thing in Grand Cayman, Switzerland, and Indonesia.

Ha ha ha. We had a guy at work talking to a "russian lady" on the net. He sent her at least $400 dollars that I know of. That was at one time. No telling how much more he sent her. It went like this.

Talky talky for a few months. Interested in meeting him. Can't afford a ticket because mom is in hospital with cancer. Got first "deposit". Oh dang need more money to get a train ticket to Moscow. Got second "deposit". Oh snap, had a wreck on the way from train station to airport in taxi and used the money he sent to pay bills. Still need either money to get back home or money to fly over here and money to get home.

We all told him he was getting scammed, but he's 30 never been married and too proud to admit he was. I can't wait to go to work monday and hear what kind of excuse he has this time. If I were him I would cut off that "relationship" and sign up for one of those "you pay us and we give you girls numbers that would best suit what you are looking for" places. I've heard some of the people on the "local chat lines" are crazy but at least they're real.

Oh I went way off subject. *cough* Wire money...bank...account...numbers...all that Jibba Jabba...yeah.

                          Paypal is the cheapest way.

Western Union and your bank will charge roughly the same amount.

Also you can not wire $us anymore without major hassles. Most banks force you to convert it to the local currency. Check to see if you friend deals with a chinese bank that has a US correspondent bank. Like China Construction Bank (#2 bank in China) is 20% owned by Bank of America. I know Chase also bought a stake in a chinese bank recently.

                          Good luck.

I complete several wire transfers a day, not all banks have swift numbers but, for those that do it helps. We have nou never had issues converting funds but, if you say you wanna wire 20,000 it will be in US dollars, not Yen, and then be converted in that account. Because, Im sure they will pay out in Yen. My bank charges a flat fee of 40 dollars for international wires.and I work for a rather large bank chain, but not a huge one.....
However its your local bank, showing up should probably not be a huge problem, we do require anyone performing a transfer to be present with photo ID... considering anyone could call and say I'm joe smith and my account number is such and such wire some money...
