Actually...if you go to this semi well known website you'll see the exact pattern in colors used on words as well and realize that it's not a rip of ebay's words...

i know what google is i have it set as my homepage to but ebays been around longer then google plus the 4 letters in googles"talk" ebay = 4 letter and use of coloured letters

In my opinion, Google Talk isn't up to the "wow, this is better than everything else and FREE" standard Google has established with alot of their releases. Its missing many features that make a IM client usefull. Theres a difference between simplicity and lack of features.
