    Doll House X-mas present.

Some of you may remember a thread I had started about building a doll-house for my kid, well here it is almost complete. All I've got to do now is build a front door, cap the peak of the roof, paint the roof hunter green, and then fleck paint it to disguise the screw heads and make it look like an asphalt shingle roof.

The walls are constructed out of Oak dowels to make it look like a log cabin. This made it a PITA to build, but I think it turned out pretty sweet.

Oh and yeah I know I need to clean our shop.

Thats really cool, good work. After your done putting the final touches on the surfaces, may want to check out a craft store to see if you can find some things for the house... You'd be surprised on what you could find... I wouldnt be surprised if you found miniature drapes, and front porch lites. Good luck... Don't clean it, pay someone else under minimum wage to do it

My wife is planning on making some drapes for the windows and rugs for the floors and we've got some pieces of furniture for it already. I'll have to check out hobby lobby or some place like that.

I've found that barbie scale wooden furniture is pretty hard to come by. We've looked for it on the net, but basically everything that we have found has been a smaller scale.

Maybe I'll have to make that stuff too!

                Beyond way cool!

When TSC was 4, my brother and I spent most of the night/morning, and most of a case of beer, putting together her Barbie Dreamhouse so she could find it on Christmas morning.....

......she spied the box it came in first....couldn't get her out of it for the rest of the day.

                waste of good beer

Haha... I'm way ahead of you here. There's no box that this one came in!

Anyways I'm still looking forward to my 9 month old son playing with wrapping paper and boxes more than he plays with his presents on x-mas morning. Damn kids and their damn boxes...

Ummm... I just worked on it during the nights when I wasn't working on my pickup, so I don't really know, but if I had to guess I'd say about 25 - 30 hours total.

notching those dowels was a major pain in the rear. Also I had to build a jig for drilling holes in the dowels, because I ran rods through them from the bottom of the doll house to the top at every corner as well as on the inside walls. Then when I put the final layer of dowels on I threaded the rods and put a nut on them to clamp them all down on each other. It sure made it solid.

LOL I'll have to get a pic of the saw I used to cut out the windows, door, and back of the doll house. It's a little ~ 3" makita saw blade that I spot welded a washer onto so it would mount in a die grinder. It sliced through the dowels like butter... Wicked as hell!
