XBox 360 Launch in Japan ....

    Wow so I knew the launch was going to suck, but I didnt think it would suck this bad;

Microsoft sold 62,135 machines over the weekend, or just 39 percent of the 159,000 consoles it is estimated to have shipped to stores, according to data from market researcher Enterbrain Inc.

The first Xbox sold about 123,000 units in the first three days of its launch in 2002, according to Tokyo-based Enterbrain.

Trying to penetrate the Japanese market is very difficult. Even if MS did everything right with the console, Japanese gamers would still favor their homegrown systems.

Screw 'em, more consoles for us.

It's not really suprising, the xbox, being an american console is geared more towards western games, oddly enough, the japanese console are geared towards the japanese markets, only we play those too, becuase we're not picky.

You have to understand that the Japanese culture has deep roots in loyalty. No amount of marketting can take their loyalty from Sony or Nintendo. And the games we like to play differs from the games they like to play. Japanese gamers love RPGs. And unless your console will support that genre, don't expect to see a lot of sales from it.

If you compare the games we like to play, the popular games released share similarities with other popular games out on the store shelves. In the Japanese market, game developers and publishers will take risks to release a game that's outside the norm. Believe me, they've got some really wacky games out there. Most of which deals with girls in school uniforms! LOL!

But seriously, I've got respect for the japanese gamers. I really do believe they revived gaming to what we know today. Especially if you look at the history of games and how it was dying during the Atari glory days. It's funny, to think Nintendo approached Atari with their NES console and Atari turned them down.

they probably dont have a big market for medal of honor, which seems to be all that there is for xbox 360 right now.

I think the majority of American gamers are lame.

Why? The popularity of FPS games on consoles with their horrible control scheme.

Why don't the Japanese like the XBox(360)? Lack of wacky titles and RPG's.

One thing that might help the XBox 360 sell in Japan, is if they need both a console and a heater. You have to love convergence.

Or maybe they just heard about how microsoft rushed the release and so everything explitive's up in the system (i.e. power button shorts out, graphics card is crap)

                  Just a thought.

If you remember, the Playstation idea was thought of by Nintendo. Nintento went to Sony to make a CD-ROM add-on called "playstation" to the SNES, but backed out because Sony wanted 25% of the profit. Then Nintendo went to Phillips. Sony used what they had developed and turned it into the Playstation console. Nintendo tried to sue saying that they had rights to the name but lost. Looks like Nintendo almost killed itself.

HAHA! No, I'm not into hentai. I was referring to the silly dating games they also have there. No, the "Play Station" was a collaborative effort between Sony and Nintendo. If Nintendo came up with the idea, they would also own the rights to the technology which Sony used for their "Playstation." Another thing was that Nintendo didn't think the CD-ROM medium was a good idea at the time and felt the cartridge was still the way to go. But yeah, Nintendo shot themselves in the foot when they cancelled their CD-ROM addon. However, their gameboys is the only thing keeping them alive.

fps on computer is much better... however, Call of Duty on Xbox 360 was done very well imo...

As for the shorting out, most of the problems experienced by 360 users can be traced to the fact that they ignore the warnings about ventilation, and stuff them into restricted spaces where they overheat.
