Are Ipods Really Worth It?

$400 for a 60gig ipod video
$300 for a 30gig ipod video
$250 for a 4gig ipod nano
$200 for a 2gig ipod nano
$130 for a 1gig ipod shuffle
$100 for a .5gig ipod shuffle

are they really worth it?

I think so. I paid 300 dollars for my 20gig a year or so back. I use it everyday when I walk to class (about a 15 minute walk from my apartment) and it interfaces with my car stereo (Alpine) so I'm listening to my iPod anytime I'm in my car. I'm actually planning on getting a 60gig soon so it can hold all of my music. I think the video function on the newer iPods is kind of silly, but maybe thats because I have no use for it. Other than that I don't really think you're going to do any better, the 30gig is certainly worth 300.

i got a 40gb iRiver H340 for only 300$
It pretty much is the same thing as a mini computer the size of a box of cigarettes
I watch full color and sound movies on the 2" screen
listen to music
look at photo's
go over .txt files
go over powerpoint presentations
listen to the radio
record important convo's
record the radio
put any file i want to transfer on it and use it as a external HHD


also...

you can put a custom faceplate under the casing

have custom layouts,screens,welcomes,and such
my only regret is that i didnt throw a 60gb HHD in my player instead because i am maxed out with all my seasons of family guy/south park and the music

iPod is worth every penny.

just spend the $40 and get the extended warranty. I'll be replacing mine for free this week because of a dead battery.

paid $250 for my mini and i listen to music every day..... but its not my music....... my computers cant work with ipods so i borrowed 800 songs from the guy at the ipod store.....

picked up a whit 30gb video a couple of weeks ago...

Thing if freaking sweet, video quality is amazing....worth every penny of the 270 I paid for it...

My suggestion...don't get black unless you plan on protecting it with a nice case...it shows scrathces terribly

I love my mini and use it alot. My friend has the new 30 gig Ipod, and has a bunch of videos on it, it was pretty cool. I mean then you can watch videos wherever you want really. The only thing is the video really sucked down the battery. but yeah

I find them to be worthless considering i only listen to music really in my truck or at home on my stereo. And since cd players are only like 40 bucks, i think its a lot cheaper just to buy a cd player and burn cds. Because honestly you really dont need 20k songs at your fingertips. You could always buy a mp3 cd player if its that big of a deal.

I had MASSIVE problems with getting mine to interface with my computer. I could not get my computer to recognize it, and therefore could not download songs onto it. LOTS of complaints about that on the IPOD forums. The eventual solution was to use a very old update software version on the ipod to reset it, then update it to the newest standard. I've had to do it twice.

Other than that major issue, its a joy to use. Sound quality is so-so, but thats true of any compressed format. Just rip your songs at the highest quality settings to minimize it.

I owned 2 Ipods. a 20 gb, and a 4 gb mini. They were both junk. The batterys went dead very fast. I had warrantys, but for what I paid, I think the battery should last more than 6 months. I now have a Creative Zen Micro. Holds about 3000 songs. I like it more.
