Why can't you guys post anything to back yourselves up?
Seriously, explain how your iPod is better than my RCA Lyra.----------------------------------

Who exactly hasn't posted reasons behind why they like / dislike the I-pod. There have been a few here, but the majority in this thread have at least put out the basis of there reasoning.Originally posted by sgt_eastonWhy can't you guys post anything to back yourselves up?

I'll tell you why after I'm done watching this movie on my iPod.
But seriously man, people have been posting their reasons. You just have to read them.Comment

I have a Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen Extra, 30Gb, which I really like; but I got an iPod [video] for Christmas. The situation called for me keeping the gift...I find it to be a great mp3 player, very light/portable (the Creative is a bit larger) and iTunes is easy enough to use. The video/pic options are nice. I've found a few "nonsanctioned(?)" [free] Podcasts that are quite amusing, and some software that will convert just about any video format to iPod/Mpeg-4. Today while the Jeep was being smogged, I watched the Matrix for a while; the video, though small, is flawless and impressive. It's not a portable dvd player, by any means, but it's already been nice to have this thing while on "down time". The Creative is on the shelf...Last edited by JeepinCalifornia; 01-04-2006, 08:00 PM.Comment

Got a Creative Labs 1GB mp3 player for my daughter. It was less than $100. It even has its own radio tuner. Seems to work fine and holds a good deal of music considering its all in MP3 format.
For the price I couldn't even consider the Ipods. I have also "heard" about issues with copying music from certain labels. Not really sure what that was about....Comment

Slade - the software I'm using (Cucusoft iPod Video Converter Suite) wasn't free, but I like it and don't regret the cost. I believe there was(?) a program or two that was shareware...but there is a wide range of programs at cost. Try here: http://www.ipodvideoconverterreview.com/ If you find an interesting program, try searching for it, and you may find a site that offers/distributes the program for less than the site above suggests (I did).
To transfer photos to your Pod: sync the Pod with your PC/open iTunes, left-click on "My iPod" (or whatever you renamed it), select iPod options, then select the iPod main tab, and the Photos sub-tab, and from there you'll see what to do. I find it's a little limited for photos, and of course, Apple provides software called "iPhoto" that lets you do all kinds of good stuff. I have yet to justify that expense, however.

speaking of the ipods, if one were to get stolen would it be possible to trace it? every ipod has a serial number and it needs to be connected eventually to a computer. Is it possible to trace stolen ipods? i really want to carry my new video around but there are times where i must leave it unattended in a locked locker (which keep getting broken into around in my school).Comment

every ipod is worth the money with the exception of the suffel. the only ppl who say they are not worth it are the ppl who dont own oneComment

I think it's worth the price but then again. I'm getting one for free (internet marketing scheme) so of course it's worth the price. The trendiness of them is a bit tiring though. All over my campus there are people walking around with their little white ear phones. Bunch of rich kid status symbols at times.
