Idealy, the Rad should have at least 1 in clearance all the way around, in a suspended fashion. Also, having a fan blow through "holes" then onto the rad is probably the worst method of cooling it. Again, ideally, you'd have a large cutout with nothing blocking the airflow going over the fins. This would be the best setup to maximize it's function. The more air that can pass over the fins, the better the molecules can do their job! C'man Foo you know what your doing! You can do a better job than that!

that would be why you dont buy music from itunes music store

they really just want you to pirate through P2P.

there are better ways to buy music than itunes... especially since its $1 per song for a medium quality rip, and with no freedom whatsoever.

Mango, by holes I mean THIS:

I was tired (just woke up) so I didn't know what I was saying, there's unrestricted flow over the radiator.

          /still need that shroud though...

Well ok then!! I thought you were going to strap it to the side with tiny holes drilled into it or something. Scared me there dude.

                Ok, I'm having a problem.

In the bottom right hand corner, I keep getting a little exclamation point in a triangle, with a window that reads "Delayed Write Failed" It then says it couldn't write to places like F:/M$ft and F:/ Half Life 2 (since been deleted) and then F:/ *insert a ton of letters and numbers*

The only thing that is on it is X3:Reunion and Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones. Its the secondary HD, though it is pretty old (like when 80GB drives were about the biggest you could get, so like 5 years)

These "Delayed Write Failed" messages come in droves, like 8 or 9 a piece and they're slowing down my system. More importantly, I have no idea what is trying to be written to the HD.

PS - Norton and Spybot say everything is money!

                    Couple questions:
I need a PSU that is 600+ watts (gettin power warnings with a 500) and has at least 10-12 power connectors (yes I have a lotta fans n lights) that hopefully has modular wire/plugs, nolt the daisy chained molex setup that standard psus have, does anyone have any suggestions?

Any cooling suggestions that don't involve watercooling? I LAN a LOT (twice or more a week) and can't be worrying about water in my case ( I still remember my buddies water system breaking and frying his core parts, a nasty sound it was).

...320 gigs?? damn, howd you fill that much? ...

...although maybe i shouldnt talk, i have 400 gigs with not even a quarter of that used... i needed another hard drive as a backup though because my computer kept messing up, and it wasnt really worth it getting a HDD less than 200 gigs... especially because it turned out they mislabled the package, and it was $20 lower than it should have been.

i had quite a few problems that eventually got mostly resolved, and then more when i installed more ram and a video card... i found out eventually that the video card alone worked fine, it was the ram that was the problem, no matter what configuration i used, if the new ram was in the computer it had problems... so i just sent it back to newegg.

im still wondering if i the power supply could be too weak, since i got the computer ive added another hard drive, a video card, and (sort of) more ram.

Meh, post when you join the Terabyte club, so far I think I'm the only member.

I recommend the Enermax Noisetaker 600watt PSU. I use it in my main rig, it's fantastic! Newegg link

Also, for cooling, I recommend the Zalman 9500 Cu. I also use it on my OpterOwn dually. It is light weight and would be the perfect solution for your rig since you move around quite often.

Post your 3DMark06 score in my other thread! I might have a competator...maybe.

as i stated earlier in the thread i'm interested in watercooling. when i first got the zalman heatsink i didn't overclock the cpu so it was running just fine, but it's been a few months so i decided to up the clock speed a bit, now just going from 2.1 to 2.25 causes the cpu to run at about 90* so i backed it down to 2.15 because i don't like my comuter running at over 85*f. the setup is as follows:
                          asus kn8 motherboard
                          2gb coaisair xms memory
                          amd 64 3200+ running at 2.15GHz
radion x700 running at 432 core and 465.75 memory.
                          old dvd drive
                          random floppy drive.
                          old 15gb hd
                          old 30gb hd
                          279gb sata hd.
all of this is in a slightly older Thermaltake full tower case. i was looking at their site and i can't find any pictures of it. (if i find a decent free image hosting site i'll put some pics up.)

for the water cooling i was looking at getting this
                          or this
i was also looking at getting an lcd display to put into the case. i'm not sure which is the best for most function and ease of use and was looking at this one . if you have any comments or recomendations please post them.

I got the enermax liberty 620: modular, quiet, and sexay

Also took your advice and picked up the Zalman cooler, LED version of course, with a gob o Arctic Silver that thing cools like omgwtf lol.

ALSO just ordered another 320gb HDD from newegg, 640 gigs so far! Werkin on that terabyte...500g+ drives are still too damn expensive to get with any performance. I did a ton o research and came up with the WD SE16 320g SATA3.0/gbps as the top in performance with a decent life rating also. No NCQ but it keeps up with the NCQ drives nicely.

And you have to PAY for 3dmark06...the idea of paying for a program to test my computer is...no...lol

                              asus kn8 motherboard
                              2gb coaisair xms memory
                              amd 64 3200+ running at 2.15GHz
radion x700 running at 432 core and 465.75 memory.
                              old dvd drive
                              random floppy drive.
                              old 15gb hd
                              old 30gb hd
                              279gb sata hd.
all of this is in a slightly older Thermaltake full tower case. i was looking at their site and i can't find any pictures of it. (if i find a decent free image hosting site i'll put some pics up.)

for the water cooling i was looking at getting this
                              or this
i was also looking at getting an lcd display to put into the case. i'm not sure which is the best for most function and ease of use and was looking at this one . if you have any comments or recomendations please post them.
BOO lcd and watercooling, YAY new vid card! Look into the XFX Geforce 6800gs 256meggers, they are supremelysweet, factory OCed, and cheap. Radeon gives me gas. I already hafta deal wit one in my notebook :P

I'm currently without my comp tho, my chipset fan, and subsequently my chipset died a horrible Blue Screen death and is currently in the vast unexplored land of RMA. I'm going through ES4:Oblivion withdrawals...
And BTW, I love Newegg, I'm gonna build a shrine to them. $4257.92 spent there since 4/15/04

Also, what kinda temps does everyone run at? My CPU only hits 39-40C under load, OCed to 2.4gHz...same temp as my HDDs according to S.M.A.R.T
