I actually need a new phone soon. My current phone is only holding a charge for 3 days with minimal use.
I've been wanting to switch over to Nextel for a while now. Good thing my contract is up soon.
Edit- Question though, Spring or Nextel? Is the only difference the phones and plans?Hey, look at that! It's Santa!

Well which of you Nextel cronies should I talk to about my account? (200+ phones) And with the merger all my Sprint accounts (T1)...
I want to know who to talk to about making my services more combined, or am I years too soon to be asking for my stuff to be on one bill, or to get some type of discount?Comment

Phones and plans definitely, but mainly what you intend to use the service for (and where). One may work better than the other in some areas.. If you are looking for 2-way and you ahve alot of friends on Nextel, that's a good choice. If you don't see yourself using the 2-way alot, go with Sprint.
If you decide to check it out, PM me and I'll get you my info so you can look at the site.

Eventually, that will be a reality. Right now, it's just still too soon within the Merger timeframe to get these things combined since we both use two separate billing systems. If we used the same type of system, it could be done fairly easily. They are definitely working on it and once they overcome the big hurdle of combining the databases.. I wouldn't expect that, though, for at least a year.

As for the service, they run on two separate networks. Two separate TECHNOLOGIES even. To compare the network trouble with the merger, is asinine. It's just not possible. Please, cancel your phone. I'll even do it for you. I don't want customers like you, who complain all the time, on MY network.
*edit*
As for Nextel "selling out," that is just asinine as well. In a time when consolidation was the next step, it needed to be done.. Both companies were comparable in side and it was a merger of equals.. Maybe you should do your research before you start running your mouth, especially to someone who's IN THE KNOW. I suggest Yahoo Finance or maybe even Forbes. Everyone's opinion is the same: Sprint Nextel is in the BEST position of ANY wireless carrier.
Can you hear ME now?
if i were to switch to nextel, it would be just so i could complain that i was paying for your markers.

Sprint around here has the worst reception out of any of the companies. And pretty much all companies have the 2-ways now.Comment

YOU sir are an idiot. You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. There is no such option for $5 that will get you onto the Verizon towers. They are two separate companies running two separate networks - aside from the technology standpoint where they are NOT compatible -- why in the hell would a COMPETING carrier allow a COMPETITOR to use their towers? That, sir, is ASININE.Originally posted by SIGSaysi work for nextel and sprint.. sprint has a $5 option where you can get onto all of the verizon towers.... and then 2way.... nextel direct connect is instant....

If you truely work for Sprint Nextel, please tell me the name of your supervisor -- someone's in the need of what we call COACHING.
And for the record, you can't get much faster than the Nextel's direct connect. It already has a latency in under a second -- in wireless terms, that's virtually instant.
Please, do yourself a favor and open up a glass of shut the hell up before you give the LEGITIMATE employees of Sprint Nextel a bad name. It's people like you, who's messes I have to clean up day in and day out because you CLEARLY have no idea what you are talking about when you open your mouth up.

Not trying to argue or prove you wrong, but when I was in college with Verizon I was in an area called "Extended Network" and the * commands like *86 wouldn't work because I wasn't in Verizon's "network." I believe I was on US Cellular towers or something like that because when the operator came on to tell me the command wasn't recognized it also mentioned the carrier's name.Originally posted by rkjunior303-- why in the hell would a COMPETING carrier allow a COMPETITOR to use their towers? Anyway, I didn't get roaming charges and everything worked as normal except the quick * commands.Comment

That was probably an affiliate carrier.. The affiliate carriers usually sell service for the larger carriers in the small to mid markets, where they can't immediately put stores in themselves. Usually, they are independently owned and operated -- Nextel Partners is one that comes to mind, for Nextel.
