    Valentine's day

So as we all know Valentine's day is rapidly approaching, and with the recent ressurection of the How to Kiss thread this seemed appropriate.

What good ideas have you done/heard of for Valentine's day? This will be my first one with my first girlfriend (I'm a sophomore in college, pathetic I know) and I have a couple of small ideas that might work out, but am open to suggestions, as I know countless other members of this board are. So what are your best moves?

PS-Not best moves as in trying to get her into bed with you, you dirty minded pervert!

i had to drop off my y-grip at the post office because someone bought it, so i stopped off at the store and got a card for my girlfriend

i also got her the movie "may", and should probably think of something else to get her, or maybe flowers... ehh, im lazy.

my girlfriend keeps talking every single day (generally multiple times...) about valentines day, and this card she got for me, and how she has a surprise for me, and how she cant wait, etc... im not sure if shes just really excited or is trying to make sure i didnt forget, and am actually getting something for her .

      quote from a friend:
most guys hate valentines day but i love it, its basically just a day where you get to try to guilt your girlfriend into having sex with you.

OMG!!! Run away! Far, far away... You'll only encourage that kind of behavior by buying her gifts and such.

I get really into it, most likely because I plan on staying with this girl. I usually come up with some significant/meaningful gift accompanied by a whole verbal spiel. Gift + thoughtful speech basically. That goes for other holidays and birthdays. But you gotta mix it up every time, do something different. One time I had a white rose tipped with red to match a Scottish peom about ideal love. I forget the name of the poem, but yeah, that kind of stuff. This year I think I am going to have something made out of chocolate for her. Something significant to our relationship, like some kind of inside joke we have. Nm, I got it now...

Not because its cold outside and the weather is usually cruddy IMO, but because I am such an idiot... long story. Oh well <sigh>

Knock your girlfriend up for valentines day, then buy all the candy you can find the day after because it's so cheap. Then when she starts to get hungry all the time you'll have and endless supply of candy for her.

If its the first time you can do the cute and cheesy.
Go eat at an old fashion restaraunt, like your classic nice Italian where the waitresses wear solid black dresses and bring at least 3 courses. Doesn't have to be expensive, just good ambiance. Then watch some all time favorite chic flics like Breakfast at Tiffany's or East of Eden.

I dont get it. There are no other moves. Except for the getting her to leave you alone as quickly/painlessly as possible moves.

I'm doing something very different this year for my wife. It's something I've been wanting to do for a while, but I've just put it to the back burner. Anyway, I'm going to get her her very own star. Yep, one of them twinkly ones up in the sky. It's only about $60 and it comes with a nice certificate and coordinates. It's a break from the usual flowers/chocolate routine, and it shows that I really am thinking of her (I hope )

Anyway, you can check out the details here:

any combination of the above things are great.. just don't overdo it and gl

                              we all know that... but

why not do something nice? if you haven't spent much time or done anything thoughtful for a while.. it's a good time..

also.. she might be dissapointed if you don't do anything on valentine's day.. would you feel sad if you didnt even get a call or something?
