I have bird shot in my head.

So I can speak from personal experience here. Hearing this story has had me rubbing the small bump in my forehead that is a remenider of Pheansant season `04.
Every year we hit opening weekend in South Dakota. Most of us shoot together (sporting clays) every weekend, so know each other well. All of us are extremely aware of safety, and follow all rules strictly.
We were all at one end of the field, getting ready to walk w/ the dogs towards the blockers. A walked off to the right edge of the field to be a wing man. I walked forward of the group about 20 yards. The dogs got into the field before we were all ready and flushed a bird. I called rooster as he came my way. One of my buddies (a life-long hunter who is very safe) tracked the bird and fired. (For what it is worth, he was shooting a Holland & Holland that is probably worth more than my house.) I heard shot whizzing around, not too unusual when you block the end of the field. Then, I felt a smack on my forehead. It really didn't feel worse than a paintball hit, so I thought little of it. Until, I put my hand to my head and it came away bloody. I called the group over (mostly doctors & an attorney). I wrapped a bandana around my head to stop the bleeding, and we finished the hunt.
I still remind Tom of the day often. Can't be too mad at him, he brings the steaks, vodka and Cuban cigars on the trip.

I think the report said it was a 28 gauge. That mixed with bird shot at 30 yards, he's lucky he didn't loose an eye.

This is a perfect example of what happens when Dick doesn't see Bush for a long time.

28g is about the same size as your pinky finger, and is quite perfect for quail, most likely loaded with #9 or smaller shot....hardly fatal at 90', but yes, may have poked out an eye. However, I'll bet everyone was wearing shooting glasses, seeing as it was a guided hunt.

Look, the old man left the group without telling the guide, went into the tall grass and was effectively hidden from view, didn't announce his location to the party, and he too failed to keep his attention on the other shooters. Mr. Cheney swung onto a bird, and fired where there should not have been anyone.

This is a perfect example of people trying to be politically funny....and failing miserably.

Maybe that millionaire attorney that got shot should have contributed more! LOL But seriously, what is the bag limit on lawyers?

you know Army, IDK what they teach out your way. But NYS hunter safty course says to always know whats infront of your gun. I know the retards out my way can't figure out how to push for whitetail; if i put a slug in one of them i bet your not gonna make an excuse for me! and i would not expect you to. Apparently the VP is a sloppy hunter, just cause its a guided hunt and Dick has undoubtedly been shooting for years is no excuse to forget the basics!
Tom was the last of a now extinct breed, a breed of players who build a community, a breed of owners who gave to the sport never taking more than what they deserved. I hope to see you at the feild again some day....

Anyone watching CNN right now? They "disected" a shell, but they used Buckshot instead of a birdshot load. I couls see using the "Texas Dove and Quail" (by winchester i believ) load which uses a #7 or #7.5 (i think) and #8 (for sure, I have a few boxes) shot (they pack two different loads for hunter preference, i just forget which shot they use). But they showed buckshot to demostrate what Dick hit the guy with. They made it sound like the guy was shot with a cannon.
