Hold on your not even 16 and had eight cars. thats great but that also meant you would not be operatin em on the road. And even if you get a permit at 15 thats not even a year on the road.
I got 7 vehicals under my belt in 7 years. Most of the time i had two or three vehicals at a time.
My first car i got when i was 15 (cant drive at ALL till 16 here) and slowly fixed it up to street legal and a bit more so i had a car the day i turned 16 ready to go. It was a 1988 Dodge Shadow Es Turbo. for the day it was a really quick little car with stock 160hp and with the mods i had done around 200hp (locked the turbo waste gate shut, high flow flomaster cat back exhuast, K&N intake and some variouse other goodies). 0-60 was accomplised in a very decent mid 7secs. It was a blast of a car and was tons of fun it was ALSO not a very common car and parts for it cost one HELL of a pretty penny. Now it was cheap on inshurance because as far as the inshurance company new it was just a stock K-car dodge shadow. BUt maintanece and Fuel economy was CRAP. Due to my mods I blew a head gasget on the car TWICE and the second time managed to even crack the head. after fixing all that my heavy foot got me introuble again when i blew the transmishion at witch point i sold it as i simply could not keep up with it cost wise.
When i sold that i bought my First Ranger and have since never looked back and have had three Ford Pickups on dodge Full Size Convershion Van and a VW car i bought to help with my Fuel costs of driving my old pickup. Then when i want to go fast i got a Bike witch is a HELL of a lot faster than most cars i have driven and that saying alot im a mehcanic i have driven ALOT OF CARS.AGD 68 Automag, Azodin KP2, Sheridan PGP2, Tippmann Pro/Carbine, Crossover XVR, SL-68II, and TiPX.Comment

My friend bought a car off of e-bay. He flew one way to NY to pick it up... It was trashed, he got screwed something awful. He went to a used car dealer, said give me at least 2000 for it ,and he flew home stand by. He drives his old junker still.Comment

Get an all wheel steering, all wheel drive one... the guy who you pay to do your work will love you for the sudden increase in work load. As if you having a high performance car in the first place won't help anyways.Originally posted by Dye Angel GuyI would say only buy a car on ebay i fyou are willing to fly out and look at it before you bid. My advise, look at a late 70's, early 80s Camaro / Corvette. Going to hold there value better, aside from the brake system on the Vette have less "nuances" to them, and have parts (both stock and performance) readily available. Still maintain the "cool" factor. Granted neither of these stock are awesome performance compared to some of the cars today... but neither is the 3000GT.
Insurance: M '75 convertible Corvette, when I was 19, was insured at agreed upon value as an antique (12K) and cost me like $700 a year full, no deductible. Thats in MI which has screwed up insurance laws - put it this way, my 02 Taurus when I was 27 cost me more to insure.Last edited by Lohman446; 02-14-2006, 02:31 PM."Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. Being a former 3S owner, I'll give it to ya frank. It was the best car I've ever owned. And I sold it because it ate my wallet. Litterly. Every last penny I had was spent on that fine piece of Mitsu/Dodge piece of fine machinery. I got the most thrills possible. And ya know what. I ended up selling the car because my bank account finally said enough.
They are rediculously expensive. Everytime I pulled into my mechanics shop for something I couldn't do, it was starting price of $300. Didn't matter what it was. $300.
The common swap is a 6G72 DOHC Turbo motor. Its not a DETT. I'm exceptionally, and hate to see when someone confuses that beautiful fine piece of mitsu power, with well, Nissan crap it irks me. All motors in the 3S platform carry the 6G72 block, just different heads and then different wiring. SOHC different head, DOHC NA and DOHC FI.
They are money pits. Plan on spending so much money, your wallet will scream in pain everytime you pull it out. Plan on alot of PBJ sandwichs. Thats all your gonna be able to afford. Then plan on sacrificing your next 10 unborn children to the almighty insurance god because its classed right along side the Corvette, Ferreri F40, and Saleen S4.
BTW if you do get one. 3SI.org will become your forum of choice. Make sure you watch the group buys and part out forums. Those will become your friends for after market performance parts, and replacement parts everytime you break something.
Mitsupartsdirect.com is also gonna become your friend very quickly.

I went there after you did. If your gonna compare stuff, you can at least get engine codes right.Originally posted by FlawleZHonestly man, if you seroiusly want a 3000GT, or any slightly older car that isn't real common, you either need to have LOTS of mechanical know how yourself (or a dad or family member who will help you), or you'll need to set aside some money to pay a mechanic to fix it if something goes wrong. Also, if you're wanting lots of speed, DON'T buy an automatic and look HARD for a Twin Turbo. Several have swapped the 6G72DETT into their FWD SL's or base models. Its up to you, just remember if you want something that's not an everyday car, there's a price for it to be paid somewhere along the line.68 Automag Classic with Lft Hand Power Feed, Smart Parts All American 12" barrel, KAPP Dropzone 3 Drop Forward, WGP Regulator, All Stainless Steel hosing,Comment

Ive been through 7 cars in about 2 years, but that happends when you drag (legally) on someone else's dime
.
Ive only owned 4 cars in the past three years, 3 being cadillacs. all 95 models, theyre great cars as long as you feed them lots o oil. and they still have enough power to burn most ricers, especially when supercharged, talk about granny car my ***. my bud has a 2001 eldorado etc with the new XLR engine and tranny blown with 35 pounds of boost. insurance isnt too bad considering theyre 10 years old. my current one is stock but its fast enough for what I need.embargo backwards = o grab me
