    Bon Voyage!

I just wanted to say that I have been wrong about many things:

I thought I was about to take a month off.
I thought I was going to visit my family up North for a bit.
I thought I was going to get some home improvements done, like putting a pond and hot tub in the backyard.
I thought the Mrs and I could go on a vacation.

Yep, I guess I was wrong

My current contract is ending in the next two weeks but next contract is already pushing me to deploy already! It's looking like I will be in Afghanistan inthe next three weeks

I might as well give up paintball, I haven't been able to play since early 2005 and now I might get to play next around mid 2007. AO meet & greet Afghan style anyone??? No...?

Oh well, I know there are far worse things to ***** about. I'm just a bit dissappointed I guess.

I understand waht you're goingthru. My brother was supposed to have a month or two more here but he's skipping jump and dive school i think. and hen my uncle went from retiring from the army saying he's getting a normal civilian job, and then goes back as a contracter
hopes and prayers are with you

You're welcome to send your gear to a gearless baller while you're gone

But none the less... that does suck, but at least you're leaving for a good reason and one beyond your control then to say "I had 4 months off and I umm... slept".

      Best of luck in everything.

Maybe I can meet you half-way! I just volunteered for a year stint in Iraq, and should find out Monday if I'm going. I put in for Afghanistan at the end of last year, but my current command needed more "turn-over" time and pulled my name out... You gonna be at Bagram? Good luck either way!

Just a contractor in the security business Some say "shooter" but that is too cowboy for me. Some say "operator" but I never liked the whole switchoard thing either Besides, as I like to say "I am not now or have ever been a SEAL. I cannot kill you with a spoon. But I can eat your dessert with a spoon!"

Afghanistan will be new for me though, never been there. I was trying to get a sweet gig for maritime work against the pirates but got nowhere, damn...I guess some USMC or SEAL stuff would have helped, LOL. But now the clock is ticking so I have to hustle and see if I can get any other better offers in before this new offer comes due. I was interested in going down to Liberia also but I don't think the $$$ is there either.

                    RECRUITING

Look under either CivPol in Iraq and Afghanistan or the WPPS. Salary ranges are about $100K-$180K.

Remember this, "You don't need to be a SEAL to have a fighting chance with a spoon". Go for the eyes or ear cannal. I'd rather have my Ka-bar, but a spoon will work. Something as simple as a spoon could save ones life in a pinch.
