    ?? for hockey fans

Do you think the NHL should continue to suspend play for 2 weeks during the olympic years? I'm on the fence about the idea myself. What do you think?

Isnt the olympics supposed to be the best athletes from each country competing? Without pro's it might look like womans hockey

Not exactly, it is supposed to be the best AMATEUR athletes. I liked it better with college kids playing. - At least most of them are used to olympic sized ice and can make it more interesting.

Ive never seen a competition of the worlds most elite amateurs before, with the exception of this years superbowl.

Once the current CBA expires, I wouldn't be surprised to see the NHL players to continue to be on Olympic squads. I think they shouldn't play.

I think the competition level would be even if they went back to the college kids. Now if the US was to win (doubt it anytime soon) it would be no big deal or at least not as big of a deal, where as in the 80's a bunch of young kids took down a mighty dominant "red army" team and will be talked about for years to come.

Well, you'd still have alot of the college kids here playing (for more than a week together, which would be an advantage to them) for Team USA but over in Europe there's ALOT of Pro teams to pick from, from the various European leagues.. Just because the NHL won't send it's players doesn't mean the other european leages wouldn't.
