    So Many Air Tools

Sears was having a pretty decent sale the other day and I picked up a compressor. Now I'm looking for an impact and air wrachet, but sears has about 200 of the stupid things. They range in price from $40-650 ea.

I plan on using this stuff to work on cars. I know the more you spend the better the tools going to be. Yet I really don't need a $650 professional impact for my weekend warrior car servicing. What's everyone else recommend? How cheap can I go and still have decent performance from the tool? Are these 3 tools in one kits ever any good?

    1. Find your budget
    2. What your compressor can handle CFM@PSI
    3. Don't get anything close to the maximum capacity, just because the compressor says xCFM @ xPSI dosn't mean it can do it constantly all day.

Ingers and Rand if they carry it are really decent air tools.

IM a mehcanic for a living.

ID REALLY suggest getting a DECENT impact gun and AIR ratched. The other stuff budget brand will do fine. The extra cash is well spent when you need the tools to work. MINE make me my living so obviously i am gona spen a tad more than you but even at my home i use pretty decent stuff just for the sake of haveing something work when i need it.

I have four differant Impact guns three differant air ratchets.

        Impact guns:

        Home Gun- Husky 1/2" drive 550lbs/tq $200

Work Light Duty/back up 1/2" Gun- OLD Chigago phnumatic 1/2" 350lbs/tq $dont remeber

Work HEAVY Duty 1/2" gun- Ingersole Rand 1/2" Drive composite(light weight) dueal hammer
        650lbs/tq $400.
        Work 3/8 Drive gun- Husky 3/8 Drive 180lbs/tq $140

        Air Ratchets:

Home Ratchet 3/8"- No Name brand ratchet 50lbs/tq $30

Work 3/8"- Cambel Hausfeild (modified) around 80lbs/tq $50 (LOUD AS ALL HELL)

Work 3/8" STUBBY- Cambel Hausfeild 30lbs/tq $60 (VERY HANDY FOR TIGHT SPOTS SAVES ME A TONE OF TIME VERY OFFTEN).

I use to have Ingersole air ratcets but whent through three under warrentee within 2 months while my cambel hausefeild just wont die.

Normally I buy top quality tools but about 3-4 years ago I picked up a Campbell hausfield set
ratchet and impact and they are still going strong. Now I by far don't use them every day. Hell I probably am pushing it if I use them once a month.

We've got three of em all from Harbor Freight and they work flawlessly. They're the Central Pneumatic brand name. We've got a 1/2", 3/4" and 1" drive impacts and they're handier than a pocket on a shirt!

              Thanks for the help,

I went with an IR 231C 1/2" impact and a Craftsman Pro series air wratchet.
