The University makes it a point to notify all students of any crime that occurs around campus.
So today, I get this in my E-Mail
Mind you, that only 3 weeks ago, there was an incident where a stray handgun bullet (from a shooting three blocks away) went through a window on the 9th floor of my dorm, exactly 8 floors directly above where I'm typing this.

Re: Shots Fired On Campus
At approximately 2:15 a.m. on Sunday, March 5, shots were fired on the
western edge of the UC campus near the McMicken Circle intersection with
Clifton Avenue. Two vehicles were known to have been struck by bullets
fired from a third vehicle, which then fled the scene.
One occupant in each of the two vehicles suffered a single wound to the
arm. The victims were both taken to University Hospital for treatment.
The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Neither victim is
believed to be a UC student.
The incident is still under investigation at this time. If you have any
information on this offense please contact Crime Stoppers at 352-3040.
While all serious crime has not been eliminated from streets surrounding
the Uptown Campus, the data from the last two years shows a 25% decrease
in reported crime in Corryville, Fairview, Clifton Heights and
University Heights. Crime on-campus is down 35% over the past two
years. The collective efforts of the community members and the police
are having a positive impact.

Campus is beautiful, and I don't have a problem walking it at night because actual campus is really safe. I walked past this area (on the way home from a party) probably half an hour before this took place...kinda scary...

But that's for a thread of its own I suppose... Sorry to hear about your potential problem duder.
