AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
Tried that (firmware) Windows installed the card reader correctly, the issue is simply with the Microdrive itself, the other option would be to fit a PCMCIA slot for which the Microdrive would be used as an addtional drive, but due to the plans for this Microdrive this isn't an option, the card reader was a possible "get out of jail free" idea and cheap enough with future use a financially viable option.
having windows install it properly means the drivers installed. that has nothing to do with the firmware. the drivers are software that the OS uses to understand how to communicate with your device. most drives use generic windows drivers. firmware however frequently changes from initial release. the firmware is inside the device and handles things from that end. the link you posted doesn't specify the manufacturer or model of the card reader. perhaps if you can find a serial number you can find out what model it is and see if there are any updates.
i haven't seen any mention of other microdrives. how can you be so sure it's the reader if you haven't tested other microdrives?
