    Duck Hunt

Well, today I busted out the old NES to give it its first use in about 8 years, and when I was firing up Duck Hunt, I noticed something odd.

    Not needed

I laughed for a good half hour at that.

The problem with the old cartridges is that the internal battery eventually dies, and once that happens you can clean the contacts all you want, but it's dead. They used to replace the batteries but don't anymore. Your best bet is to look for another copy of the cartridge and hope that its battery isn't as far gone.

They have batteries in the cartridges? ...

Doesn't seem to make any sense to me, however I guess Nintendo thought no one would play their games after 20 years.,..

yes I believe it was for saving your game only. So if the battery dies you just have to start over at the begining

Yeah, all my games are getting increasingly more glitchy, but they are only about $2 each nowdays, so no real problem. I also have the golden Zelda, that game is so hard, it doesnt tell you where anything is.
