The Hills Have Eyes (no spoilers)

anyone see the remake of it that just came out?
i personally liked it. it wasnt scary at all, just... gory and disturbing. but still a decent movie.

has anyone seen the origional as well as the new one and can do a comparison? the origional made some random countdown for the scariest movie moments. so i might have to go rent it or something and see how it is.

I haven't seen the new one, but I have seen the original quite a few times. A comparison is probably going to be much the same as a comparison between the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre and the remake. They are both good, but I prefer the original because it just feels right.

Saw part of this movie last night...part meaning I and my 5 friends all got up about an hour into the movie. I can honestly say that this is the first movie EVER to make me sick to my stomach and leave just asking myself why someone would want to sit and watch such a disgusting display of gore and greusome violence. It wasn't very scary...just disturbing. I would say don't waste your time and money. I guess if you have an iron-clad stomach, however, go ahead and give it a try.

I saw it last night... some spoilers in here. Though the plot was so predictable I found it ludicrous

I hated it. The movie was compared to Saw by someone on the radio the other day and they could not be further from the truth. The entire plot was put out in the first two minutes of the movie and it didn't get better from there. The realism of the movie in regards to weaponry suck. I'm sorry that was a large frame revolver, judging by the character it wasn't a .357 - when it is big enough to hit someone and send them back eight feet theres only a few it could be (haha, and I doubt even that). Someone shot in the head with a (take your pick 454 Cassul, 44 Mag, 45 Long colt, 460 S&W, 500 S&W <---- judging by the character) is not going to have any last minute discussions with anyone. Someone shot in the center of mass is not going totake very long to die. I watched a trailer go boom without even rocking he Suburban it was attached to.

I watched a shotgun take off someones head, later I watched that same shotgun (presumadly with the same loads) do minimal damage. After learning how hard these people are to kill (everyone in the movie seemed hard to kill) he tossed that still loaded shotgun onto his body? What, I thought he was smart.

I don't need to see extended simulated rape scenes in movies. DO NOT BELONG

This is the first movie that I nearly walked out on in a long time. Not for the gore (which was plenty) but because its total lack of even remote realism, predictability, and simplicity of the characters. There was no plot development, no character development, and simply gore.

And how come the cell phone junky, knowing they were going on a trip to the middle of nowhere, didn't bring a satelite phone?

The ending sucked... so lets see... Your still in the same spot you started yesterday, you have no trailer to defend yourself, you have no more ammo for the guns, your too injured to make it out, and your celebrating? Celebrating what, the coming of night?

I think you're looking wayyy to deep into a lot of the plot lines lohman...

the cell phone junkie never could have predicted that they were going to be in that 3% of uncovered US.. hence the irony.

You can still live for a rather long time /w a 357 shot to the stomach, baring it didn't hit either the inferior vena cava or the descending aorta.

You're right about the person being sent backwards like 5 feet, that was rather impossible, along with the shot to the head to the older sister.

I think the director put in the "Extended simulated rape scene" to further drive in the point that the humans that were affected by the bombing were that f'd up in the head...

I thought it was a dcent movie.. most horror movies are very predictable now a days, so I wasn't expecting much.

The original film was trash. I had a hard time watching the whole thing.

I saw the movie as well. I agreed with lohman on nearly every point. It was garbage, rape scenes have no place in movies if you ask me, though It's difficult to tell if it happens, but that mutants try to and thats all thats all I needed to see. It was not a good movie

                I give it a C-

Saw the movie for the first time this evening. I personally really enjoyed it, plot line was decent for a horror/slasher movie, great gore graphics and etc. The "rape" scene didnt bother me, because well it doesnt happen, the skinny mutant goes to try, and the older sister walks it and it goes down hill from there. Ill give it a decent B average, the gore wasnt nearly as bad as Hostel was, but I throughly enjoyed the movie, guess the horror/slasher fan genre is getting smaller...
