    New Toy!

A few weeks back we got ourselves a little Fiat-Allis 7-d Dozer. When we bought it, it had an oil leak and the wiring was screwy, but since then we've fixed those problems and built a brush guard and cab on it. The thing is a blast to operate! I can't wait till we take it down to the river and start pushing brush with it. We still have to put the shields back on the track tension springs before we do that though.

    And here's a pic:

    WOOT!

Yeah it's amazing how much easier life is with some "toys" to play with.... We've got all kinds of equipment... 9 tractors (2 with blades, 2 with loaders), 3 loaders, more trucks than I can count, etc.

It's funny that you mention hauling manure... that's actually one of my favorite jobs. We've got a manure spreader box mounted on a F-700 truck to scatter it in the fields. About a month and a half ago we cleaned out our corrals and got probably around 50 truckloads of crap. LOL... that was accumulated in just one year.

I fill a 70 some odd cubic yard construction dumpster every two weeks. You are lucky you have fields to spread on. We get screwed coming and going. Grass hay has gone up 40% to $14 for alfalfa and $17 for grass hay per bail in one year and manure pickup spiked at $1100 per pick up with this gas shortage! I swear these horses will be the end of me.

Yeah I bet you're getting screwed on hay in Arizona... We're selling it for $140 a ton up here, that's about $4.50 a bale. Most of it is getting trucked down around Texas right now.

          Crazy stuff!

Oh and it's not just the gas shortage, but a huge hay shortage too!

i've driven a caterpillar D3 hydrostat that had like 30 hours on it.
            it was pretty cool.

my dad works at a landfill covering trash so i've been around that kinda stuff all my live.
i remember when i was 5 years old and my dad was doing excavating i was riding around in a scraper with him, it was pretty cool.
