    Opinions Welcome

I asked a friend to ride a "new" used motorcycle they had just gotten running. After the friend said "yes" and before I rode the bike, I asked if there was anything I needed to know about it. I was told about a slight problem with the bike bogging at low RPM, but nothing else.

After going just down the street to a circle and back the owner of the bike comes out waving wildly and such asking if I had used the back brakes, which of course I had.

Turns out that the bike had no rear brake pads installed. My using the rear brake has scored the rotor and possibly ruined it.

I could not have possibly known before I got on the bike that it had no rear brake pads or the danger that presented to my safety.

The owner of the bike has expressed their intrest in my paying some of the cost to repair or replace the damaged part(s).

unless he is a close friend, no.

and if he is now a close friend, after pulling BS like that he wouldn't be one of mine anymore.

You're one of the very few people that I've seen use possessive adjectives (instead of possessive pronouns) correctly.

      Nice work.
The very existence of flamethrowers proves that sometime, somewhere, someone said to themselves. 'You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

Even more specifically when asked about any issues he didn't name that one. His mistake, not yours. I would be pissed at him for putting you in danger.

Well you did say friend. So if the bike in question was something obscure I'd donate time helping the said friend find the part and maybe even some wrench time, but I wouldn't pay anything for the part. He should be thankful you didn't get into an accident.

You're not at fault. Tou asked if there were any problems and he said no. As was stated earlier, had he ridden it and hit the rear brake, the same thing would have happened. If he still insists on you paying for it, I second the Louisville approach.

no, no, no . This is overkill. There is no problem that a good ole fashioned backhand cannot solve

Since behemoth is so insistant on using a bat, cut it down and drill it out so it is lighter. Then backhand him with the bat, we shall call it a compromise

Seriously, do not pay for anything, his fault.

try MSpaint I am poor and cannot afford photoshop. it is saturday, so the comp labs are locked, so i cannot use the school's photoshop. I can redo it monday morning if you want me too Or you can buy me photoshop PM and I will give my addy so I can ship it. It is really not bad considering it was a thirty second MSPaint job. I wish I had photoshop... then I could do cool stuff for more than an hour every other weekday (for class)
