    Just curious...why those specifically?

To be honest, If you are looking at an SRT-4 you are really wasting your time. The other cars it is trying to compete with are way faster. If you want something fast try the EVO8, STi, S4 B5 (2000-2002), shoot even a newer LS2 GTO or C5 Vette. It really depends on your budget. How much are you looking to spend and do you want AWD, RWD, FWD. It all makes a difference...

        nice audi dye angel guy....

ThisStarNeverFalls- srt4's are ok, only in the right hands of course. if you are interested in cars with turbo, read up on fuel management and boost levels (etc)... just make sure you do plenty of research before doing anything to your car.

oh yea, ever think about going the import route? u seem to be into domestics.....

If I had the money to spend on a Lotus Elise that would be my first choice 166hp for 1850pounds is insane. Those things are fast and handle insane. I know because I drove one.

My advice to anyone modding economy style cars is to keep all the original parts and don't permanently modify the car. Selling the aftermarket parts off will help recoupe more cash than selling the car with them on.

Big'n slo- exactly, it would be pointless for me to sell my car now because unless you actually add performance and major performance at that you will get jack for it when you try to sell.

Your correct, im really not into the whole import scene at all, it was interesting a few years ago, but the masses with the hondas with fart cans thinking they have the fastest things on the road really killed it for me. If I could afford an STi at the moment I would go for one above anything except an evo, but about 20k or so is about what im looking at if i pick up a new car, and with the evo's and Imprezas running at 30k+ base its a little higher then what I was looking for. FWD, RWD, or AWD they all have advantages and disadvantages to them and I appreciate them all, but due to the budget im looking at for getting the base car, im leaning more towards the FWD or RWD.

Why an SRT4, well to start apperance wise and drive wise, I love the car, not to mention I can pick one up for almost 13k under the "other" cars its trying to compete with. So with the car being cheaper, adding the 13k to it and making the price equal to the cars its trying to compete with, you end up with a faster car. Like with the SRT4, with just adding a Stage 3 with the turbo toys, and exhaust your pushing up into about the 330-350 HP and Ft lbs range, and your still under the price of an Evo or Sti, that to me is just impressive and is in a car that I love to drive and I think the apperance is outstanding, just one of the cars ive ALWAYS enjoyed. Personal preference I guess....next in line would be the Sti then the EVO.

I really want to build something thats fast enough to compete with Ricers, Domestics, Drag cars, etc. Id really like to build a 5.0 mustang, but I cant seem to find one locally that is in decent enough condition....

I really do appreciate EVERYONES input and opinions in helping a noob to the car world. Thanks again guys!

Cheap Muscle = Caprices, Monte's, Buick T-Types, Mercury Cougars (the fox body ones), RWD Supras/Celicas, Dodge Daytonas (even though they are FWD), Magnums, Aspens, Volares.

Whats the difference between a 450HP Supra and a 800HP Supra?

                              Two tenths of a second.

If you really like the STi look maybe look into a wrx. My friend just picked up a lower miles 02 for about 17k. It's essentially a new car and easy enough to mod. I applaud your effort to stick domestic though, and I have heard really good things about srt-4's. Plus the money you would save would allow you to upgrade it even more.
