So I nearly cut off the tip of my finger, I went through a sold 1/4 inch of skin and muscle on the very tip of my left hand pointer. Now Im not sure how severe this is but I have no feeling in the tissue above the cut, and its kinda a dead color.. It has not been given medical attention, just lots of hydrogen peroxide and some non toxic crazy glue to seal the wound.. any suggestion?

you used GLUE fo help seal a cut?! even non-toxic, thats just stupid. duct tape i could understand, but think of all the chemicals and/or animals in those glues!

You should have used spider web.Thats what my parents use to tell me when they got hurt and some cut wouldnt stop bleeding.It really work but im not doctor and maybe you should go see one because if you finger fall off you will never be able to play paintball again.

Your probably fine. The dead skin is just skin that was cut off, so gluing it on is like gluing on a custom fitted band aid. That's how I think of it anyway. You disinfected everything, so you should be okay. I use superglue for annoying cuts that won't stay shut with tape all the time. I wouldn't worry about it unless it starts to get infected.
What's gonna happen if you go to the doctor? They'll clean the cut out, which you already did, probably stitch it up, or use their special super glue. I'm no doctor, but I cut myself all the time.Comment

Its just the tip... not like from the knuckle up, more like from the tip of my nail up... so wasting about $300 on that isnt too big of a deal, even if it fell off it woulnt stop anything. Id still be able to play guitar and what not.. Im just wondering if this has happened to anyone else before
doctors wont stitch up wounds that have been open for more than four hours
its not that serious.. this is pre superglue btw and yes actually crazy glue works amazing, it keeps it from getting infected *as long as you dont lock in an infection* it seals it together so it heals faster and it keeps it from getting annoying
Its not too serious the red line is as deep as I cut, it did go through some muscle too unfortunately
unfortunately you cant tell from this, does anyone know will that heall wierd or anything? Super Glue is allright for cuts actually, i got this from a biology teacher. The glue contains a type of alchohol which cleans the cut. And this is super glue not white elmers glue.
Id still go to a doctor...

I work at a trauma hospital, and deal with traumas on a daily basis, so I have knowledge in this area. You did the right thing by cleaning it, and the super glue was a good idea to seal the wound up, and reduce the pain by puting a seal over the exposed nerves to reduce pain, but if it looks like the tissue is becoming necrotic (dying off) you need to go to an ER and have it stitched up or looked at. A doctor could probably save your finger, keep it from getting any worse. So you started off smart, but by not going to the doc you're just being stupid. I don't want to scare you but if it get's infected you could easily lose not just your finger, but a good portion of your hand. (I've seen untreated wounds go to that extreme.) But then why listen to me what do I know, I only work at a Level I Trauma center in the middle of the ghetto, where a slow day for me is only dealing with 2 or 3 bullet wounds instead of my daily average of 6-8.Originally posted by RoamingStormComment
