    Sweet army stuff.

I know a few people here will get a kick out of this. I'm really curious how it works.

Radar aimed kinetic response system. It's NOT a force field.

            So it's a shotgun with a radar?

Gimp, that's probably pretty close. I was thinking an adaptation of the Navy's Phalanx CIWS system, but one turret on a fighting vehicle would leave too many exploitable blind spots. I'm hoping Army can spill a little more information 'cause this has me intrigued.

the video clearly states that how the target is defeated is highly classified. So if Army has any knowledge of the system and how it works, I doubt he will be forthcoming or shed any new light on how it works

so now its time for wild assumptions and "I dont know anything, but I am willing to make a guess" - A0's favorite game

sounds like some kinda energy weapon or something.. the way the rounds are sploding, doesnt look like anything is actually hitting them...

                I dunno.

trying to see if there is any evidence in the video of something flying from the vehicle... notice the blurred out region on the vehicle? and the one clip that appears to be an explosion from the vehicle then a bunch of black cloudiness.. then the round comes in and explodes...

                weird.

Not only that, but considering that this device is made by the Israelis, I doubt Army knows much about it at all (actual working knowledge, that is)... Or did that whole part of the video escape everyone?

This is the army, we dont get fancy gagets like rail guns and magnetic force fields. The power requirements for such a doodad would be ridiculous. Gimp was pretty close on the shotgun with a radar description. Actually its more like one radar dish and a bunch of shotguns, arranged somewhat like those smoke grenade launchers you see all over a tank or humvee. Someone shoots an rpg at one of our trucks, and the radar tells which shotgun thingie to fire into its sector to intercept the missile.

Nothing all that secret about it. The video points out the projectile in use. Radar aimed kinetic counter-measure.

                            Uhhh...

You would be surprised. You would not believe the stuff I saw at the Boeing facility where the apache helicopters advanced avionics are developed. I wish I could tell but... what the hey.

Oh really? Do tell, Id like to know what you learned about the apaches by seeing their facility for one day. Maybe I could learn something new about it, since I was only in ah-64d attack squadrons for a few years. If it werent my day off Id put the effort into quoting Rickers saying right now, that would be so fitting.
