    Time to quit?

I've been considering quitting paintball lately...I really don't care at all for the image it has gathered and spotlighted players who are a disgrace. But more improtantly, I've played once in over a year and likely won't play again for another six months to a year anyway, if then. None of my friends play anymore and other paintball associates I have lost contact with or they have moved away.

I've started selling off my non-Mags for now. Maybe I will keep them around and see how things go later. Or maybe I will just get carried away and clear everything out...

Comments, thoughts? Anyone else considering an exodus???

    Maybe so.

Try bush ball or pump for a while. It's a nice refreshment from AGGish speedballers. But as far as your friends not playing anymore... thats hard. The guy that got me into paintball moved a few years back and I barely get out to play, but that changes this summer If what I think is going to happen... look up one of my older posts and you might figure something out. I am going to be up to my teeth in paintball

At least dont dump the mags. If you ever do play at least you will have the respect of having a mag.

    Good luck

I was in the exact same situation a while ago. I quit the whole paintball "culture", got rid of all but one of my guns and a co2 tank, and I only play every once in a while when I can get a couple friends who would want to go and play rec. Theres just too many douchebags around to take this crap seriously.

Heck I haven't really played in the past few years, (maybe once) but I kept my 9 guns and all my other gear just because I figured it'd be cheaper to keep it for my son rather than buy all the stuff over again. Also if a situation comes up where I can start playing again I'll definately do it. There's just not enough time right now though.

It's tough to keep on if your friends have dropped out. If you can't or don't want to find a new group to play with, then quitting is a reasonable idea.

kosmo's plan is sound, though. Keep a set of gear so that if/when you go out with some friends to play you won't need the manky rental gear.

It's not a permanent decision....you can always quit and come back to it again if you feel the need

ya i quit last summer, sold all my gear and then got back in this jan. Although from the looks of it ill be getting out again very soon. I quit cause i used to play all the time with friends and they all like stopped so i did too. Now i was supposed to come and play again with a team i played on but idk if i wanna deal with all the little bs that always goes on at the fields. I also tried going back and playing woodsball but it just wasnt the same. I think im gonna quit to pursue mx for a while.

I just want this stuff gone, super low prices

I know how you feel, I'm in the same boat really. My friends and I used to play every other weekend in college, then that turned into once a month or so as twentysomethings. We even got into tournament paintball and had a team, etc. Now, we haven't played a tourney since 2003, we haven't played at all in like a year, and almost everyone I know doesn't have the time or the $$$ for it (including myself most of the time). However, I think that's why my friends that are still interested are planning on getting into scenario paintball. Basically, if we feel like playing rec we can but that'll be up to us and the aforementioned time/cash. However, scenario events roll around every few months (or better) and we can go to whichever ones we want with some forward planning. That, and while there we're fairly assured we won't rip through 2-3 cases of paint in one day like shooting our Angels.

The best time we all had was back in the day playing with pumps and early version semis (like the Stingray), runnin' around in camo and using 500 balls in an afternoon. We need to get back to that if any of us are even going to stay in the sport. A lot of the time the paintball scene is represented by, and chock full, of jackasses who spend waaaay too much money, take it waaaay too seriously and ruin it for everyone. You're always going to find that I'm sure, so escaping to scenario ball isn't a perfect solution, but by and large the folks playing in the woods are a lot more apt to watch their ROF, be shootin' Tippmann's instead of Timmy's, and have a "let's have fun" mentality.

Good luck on whatever you choose to do, like the other people here have said...it's not like you can't come back to the game even if you do leave.

Well, I just sold my 2004 DC Viking for $750. Sorry to see it go, but...

I do play a variety of paintball styles when I do play; speedball and woodsball with private groups. Electro, mech, or pump even.

I'm leaning towards just parting out the rest of markers and keeping the Mags and the rest of my eqipment. Can see where it goes from there...

I stopped playing almost two years ago, and have only been able to play I think two or three times since then, I can honestly agree with you in the fact the I really dont approve of the direction that the sport is going with, not much we can do...id be more than happy to find some people who want to play for just fun...that doesnt seem to exist anymore. If your not to stop playing, id suggest trying to find something else you love to do, thats what im working on now...good luck.

Nobody quits paintball, they just take vacations. Sometimes these are long vacations, but they do come back.

I'm contemplating tradeing my ecocker for a VSC pump. I played with my buddys carter and i loved it, i did a run through on the left tape and shot 2 people out of the snake and one person out of the back left can. with a pump.... those guys took alot of crap for a long time.

Eh, I understand. Its a big financial commitment and takes a whole day. Every once in a while I doubt wanting to play too.

If you decide to quit, sell off everything except your best mask. You might wanna play later on and its nice to have a good thermal mask instead of a crappy rental one.
