Whew, you had me scared for a minute there. Thats one wild and wacky, uh, thing youve got there. Remember to be safe and have everyone wear protective gear. Which includes shoes.

When you lean to turn, does the other side come off the ground? I dont get how it works.

you dont lean to turn. you turn the bars.

but you can still get the sidecar to lift on right hand turns if you are not carefull.

That's an interesting trick don't you mean LEFT hand turns...the side car is already on the right.

think about it mark, i thought you were smarter then that?

when going in a circle to the right what direction is the syntrifical force going to push you?

left hand turns push the sidecar into the ground

I did think about it....you turn right then side car is going the right and is compressed (well sort of) turn to the left and the side car is going to want to lift even with the connecting rods and stabilisers attached unless you have a rather heavy person in it. or are you saying because of the dampers it increases the weight?

Remember I would have the side car mounted on the opposite side to you, so the comment you made would apply to me but your side car is on the 'wrong' side from me
racing motor cyle combos all have the sidecar mounted as you have it and they never flip (well rarely) going around right handers and when they do flip is it because the 2nd guy has positioned his weight at the wrong time.

true for you with a left mounted sidecar.

the lift is going to happen when ever you turn towards the sidecar. and be stable when you turn away from the sidecar.

the real bummer is, now try and follow me. to turn to the right with a right hand sidecar. you turn the bars to the right. now the sidecar lifts, you are now on 2 wheels with the front wheel turned to the right. that is going to make it want to fall to the left even faster. so you want to center the bars to fix it. now you are driving stright into incomming traffic.

everything i have read says go out to a parking lot and pratice making it lift so when you are on the road and it lifts you wont be cought off guard. well at least that is what i am going to do.

I understand what you mean about a turned wheel making the bike want to flip (this is either direction and just a bike with the bars being turned rather than leaning) I just can't get my head around that the heavy lump on the side wanting to lift if you turn in the direction of this lump...unless the weight of this lump adds a resistance to the main weight (the bike) making it more unsable...which does sound to be what you are saying. I will put my hands in the air and say I haven't ridden a combo so am basing this on the watching of the crash videos you can buy anywhere that do feature side car units (albeit fixed frame ones) and how I was thinking about lateral forces.

For anyone else reading this. A tip for the future ...this is how you have a dissagreement online without resorting to insults

put simply the centrifugal force allways pushes to the outside of the circle

even on race bikes with all the extra weight on the inside of the conner they still lift

                          Yes I see that.
Racing combos are slightly different as the frame doesn't flex which must actually make it worse. But the centrafugal force chart I do understand...it just doen't seem to make any sense in the real world of use due to the flexing of the sidecar but I can certainly see what you mean.
Oh well be safe then when you practise in the parking lot :)

i dont think i could ever get used to a bike with a side cart. I think it takes all the fun out of driving those back country roads.

I just want this stuff gone, super low prices
