NASCAR is a sport. The cars are essentially identical, so the difference is in the skill of the drivers and the pit crews. And the strategy of knowing when to refuel, when you can push the tires a little longer, and when you should make your move to overtake someone.

And there is contact, lots of it. Those crashes don't come from icy road conditions.

NASCAR is a bigger business then paintball x1000000.

how you dont see paintball as a sport im clueless.

      Sport:
"an active diversion requiring physical exertion and competition"

thats definately paintball, and maybe nascar

I contend that all racing is in a different category then your typical sports. It is difficult and requires a lot of endurance, concentration, and skill.......but it's a bit different then a normal sport. Open wheel is far far far more difficult then nascar btw.

          As for this....

You got me on the money. Paintball is a billion dollar industry. NASCAR is a $5 billion industry.

What I meant by that comment is that in paintball, the rules are determined by the manufacturers, with an eye to making them the most money possible, rather than creating a fair and level playing field. NASCARs rules are not dictated by the auto companies.

Besides that, what are the standard rules of paintball? How is it scored, and how long is the game? How many players on a team, and what is the field layout? If I say I play baseball, you know how the answers to all those questions. Ditto for soccer, hockey, volleyball, basketball, or water polo.

How is open wheel harder? Because they make more turns? Or is it the fact winners are determined by how deep the competiers pockets go. Nascar is almost a cookie cutter design and what determines the winner mostly is the driver and his pit crew. Last time I checked Nascar still uses non synchromesh, H patterend shift trannies and most often shifting without using the clutch. Then having to deal with other drivers, 110+ Temps, and to keep from crashing when turning and taping other drivers.

Nascar = racing on a graded ovel.

F1 = You actually have to drive (turn left and right, heavy breaking, etc)

NASCAR is a commercial and a waste of fuel and tires.

both nascar and open wheel cars have to follow a cookie cutter type pattern. le mans and such, no. But most other open wheel racing is dictated by regulations on their car. Nascar also deals with the depth of the companies pockets, there is still room to improve and research new ways to make their cars faster.

                        No

NASCAR more physically demanding and worse on you than any other sport, I think not. Go stand in a ring with Muhammad Ali, Rocky Marciano,Sugar Ray Robinson,George Foreman, Mike Tyson, Roy Jones Jr., Joe Frazier, or Bernard Hopkins and tell me which you could do longer, stand in with them, or drive a car in left turns at 200mph, at 110 degrees, with other drivers...

Just because it might not be as demanding doesn't mean it's not a sport.

Nascar is not a sport. I did have the Monopoly Nascar game though and that was pretty fun.Other than that it sucks, I hate it and they should probably sell the gas and tires they waste. They would make more money.

nascar is not a sport. anyone can learn to drive a car in a circle. it requires no athletic ability and is the prime example that america is going downhill quickly. why dont the drivers learn a real sport that involves more than sitting down for four hours sweating? they can't that's why. they were too bad at any other sports to play them, so tried driving a car...something 90% of the american public can do.
