I'm still looking, but so far I'm diggin' the "Cleveland Church" and "No flown flag goes unseen."
The very existence of flamethrowers proves that sometime, somewhere, someone said to themselves. 'You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

You have some really good stuff. I must now direct you to: The Photo Forum

(My friend runs the site and I try to direct as much traffic as possible his way!)

              If you're just learning....

then there are a lot of photographers who are going to be facing some SERIOUS competition. I mean it, you show some basic talent, a "knack" for handling a camera, and your framing talents and composition are top-notch. You work equally well in color and black and white. You also seem to have an ability to make your "models" feel at ease when you are taking their picture, and it shows!

I don't really have a favorite that I can recommend that you put in the show. But in the end, it is ultimately your decision, and one I think every artist has to answer for themselves.

Since you live near a major metropolitan area, have you considered renting a large format view camera and working with it? Its a totally different experience, but judging from your collection I think you would be really good at getting some spectacular results. On a side note, I would suggest that you start marking your work with a copyright notice, especially if you think you might make this into a career. I'm pretty much "out" of the photography profession now, but shoot me an e-mail if you've got a question or would like to talk shop. I've still got a large collection of gear and occasionally I still get out with it to create some images.

              Good luck at the contest!

thank you everyone for the help.. It is much appreciated...

                  Vircolac,
thanks for the compliments... I am learning and just decided to actually learn how things work rather then just snap a shot here and there.... I have Jason (muzikman) to thank for getting me back into wanting to learn how to take great shots that have my own style. I do have a wonderful cannon film slr that i take with me on a regualr basis. My goal is to master that thing and get either a d5 or a d20... roght now I am just working on composistion and framing with my casio exlim or the fuji (which i have compleltey wore out, the sensor is just about dead). I have a few photography classes and photoshop classes on the horizon, I just finished up a short 2 day one that I loved...
The closest to getting serious about photography that I am doing is setting up a Istockphoto account. Other then that, it is just another hobby to add to my ever growing list...

                  thanks again everyone...
