Well if any of you out there are football people, you'd know the draft was mere hours away. The Texans just shocked everybody who sucks at football strateegery by taking Mario Williams over Bush. I mean really, when youre entire team sucks except for your running back, why would you draft another running back? Especially if hes going to play hard to get? Anyway, anyone got any inside information or crazy ideas about whats going down today? I can definitely see the Titans or the Jets working out a trade to get Bush, as theyre both far more in need of a RB than the Saints. I also see the Vikings working out a trade to get into the top 10 and grab one of the QBs that slips down to about 9ish.

I actually agree - Carr would be a much better QB behind something that even remotely resembled an offensive line. In fact when you look at the draft that is so heavy in QBs (3 projected first rounders) there are soo many teams that need something worse than a rookie QB. I wouldn't be too surprised to see Green Bay take one of the QBs and then trade out Aaron Rodgers for some offensive line help but well I don't honestly guess they will.Originally posted by kosmoWell if any of you out there are football people, you'd know the draft was mere hours away. D'Brickashaw Ferguson is a great player. I am a packers fan and I was hoping jets would pass on him so GB could pick him. He will be a great consistant player for many years. It was a good choice by the Jets.Bad Traders: Brice34, complete total fraud, lied constantly and stole 60$ for an egg Comment

Totally agree. Everybody I've talked to said that the Texans' choice was a no-brainer: Reggie Bush, and they all thought I was an idiot for even thinking that they would take Williams over Bush.
I just started watching and saw that the Cardinals got Leinart.
Titans drafted Young.
Saints drafted Bush.
Jets drafted Ferguson.Last edited by -Tab; 04-29-2006, 11:57 AM.The very existence of flamethrowers proves that sometime, somewhere, someone said to themselves. 'You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

er I'm at work and only watching the 'ticker'.Originally posted by kosmoOk, seeing as how I am tv-less, Im a bit confused by the whole Cutler thing. What the heck just happened? Did Denver just spend 2 first round picks to get the 3rd rated quarterback?
Denver moving up for Cutler is pretty out there. Though Denny Green must have creamed his shorts to have Linert fall in his lap. Larry Fitzgeral and Anquin Boldin should be quite happy. Linert could challenge an aged Warner for the starting job.
The Vikings by the feeling I've got are going to take LB Greenway out of Iowa, or possibly a DB like Cromratie or any other projected top 10 that has been falling. The coaches are going to prefer to groom a QB and probably take Brodie Croyle or most likely Omar Jacobs. Though if they go 'homer' and take Lawrence Marony I wouldn't fault them. Just not another freaking WR please.

Well I still think its a little bit early to say either way about Williamson, though I will admit that taking him at 7 wasnt the best idea. I would also be incredibly disappointed if they wind up with that Croyle douche. Personally, I hope they pick up Jimmy Williams and then get a good LB in the second round.
Edit: well they took Greenway. I just think a 4.8 is too bloody slow to be a good OLB. I guess he's got a decent football brain though, which theyve been lacking in LBs ever since Del Rio retired.Last edited by kosmo; 04-29-2006, 12:45 PM.Kosmo For President '08, '12, '16... However long it takes

Yeah, the 'athletic' type of LB wasn't exactly working out for them with 2-3 guys that can get to the play quick.... miss the tackle.... or fall for a juke or blow coverage. Probably why they passed on Demeco since he was available.Originally posted by kosmo

And I think Omar Jacobs has the better overall profile according to the paid scouting agency the NFL teams use for all the weird testing. Supposedly Linert has a 20% faster digestion rate than Cutler. Historically guys with fast digestion learn faster and adjust better to road travel and night games. Very strange stuff the draft profile gurus test and track. I wonder if they can predict concussions with Ernie Sims or how years back Demetrious Underwood found Jesus and went 100% bonko on the NFL. The scout still likes Williamson and thinks he was underutilized.
Edit:
Oh yeah, Greg Biekert was a decent MLB for two years. That Hoveround for legs couldn't quite match his instints at that time in his career though.
Edit 2:
Why isn't anyone taking Winston Justice? I though he had the hottest increase in stock?
Edit 3: The Jets may still have a good shot at a 'franchise' type guy with DeAngelo or Marony if they are still there. If anything Lendale might be around. Though it was funny watching Jets QBs get eaten the first weeks of every year.

Aaaaah, New England got Maroney.
Why, why.
I didn't want a reason to like New England...
With Dillon injured alot/aging it makes a decent fit. Maroney can run inside and pound it with the best of them or break it outside. At MN he would touch the ball 35 times minimum with some 50 carry overtime games and just a workhorse. I'm sure Belichik never tipped his hand to anyone. In NE Marony would actually have decent fantasy football value as well.

Hershel Walker in the shadows...Originally posted by kosmoI do find it rather upsetting that our running backs went to Dallas and NE the past few years. Also, I could see Justice slipping to Houston in the 2nd round if the Panthers dont take him.
Two close picks in round 2 for the purple. Reaching for another LB or fill the S/CB need? Maybe a tier 2 DE since Lance left to Oaktown. Udeze and James need a fire lit on their bums.
Edit: How is Jimmy Williams still not taken?

I don't disagree that Ferguson is a good player. However, having a nasty OT isn't going to mean anything when you don't have a strong back to run through his holes or a consistently not-terrible quarterback.Originally posted by fcpchopD'Brickashaw Ferguson is a great player. One the other hand, building a solid offensive line, with around two pro bowl caliber linemen will make the rest of the line look better and make it much easier for QBs and RBs to look good. Part of the Denver scheme is one nasty mobile offensive line, that they can historically plug any power back in and get results. Even if Bush fell to NY, he would have no holes to run to, and have to stretch every run outside. If the Jets get another decent lineman this year, or another beast next year, it would benefit the whole offense. I'm sure Alex Smith is a decent QB, but in San Fran he is looking at the sky from his backside most of the game...Originally posted by teufelhundenI don't disagree that Ferguson is a good player. Theres still umpteen bajillion good running backs left for NY to take in the 2nd round. And its not like Pennington sucks when his arm is attached. I think it was a much better choice to go for Ferguson, who should be an outstanding lineman for the next decade, and pick up a back later, for a lot cheaper, because they are a much riskier position to pick.Kosmo For President '08, '12, '16...
