Hey guys, I'm looking for a new reel for striper fishing off the coast. I really dont know anything about them. I'm looking for a spinning type. Something reliable, but not cheap. Anyone have any recomendations? I'd lust like to go to the store without feeling like an idiot. I'm willing to spend up to around 100 bucks. I just need the reel, I've got a rod.

Get the best Shimano you can afford. It will out perform almost anything on the market. The Penn Z Series will also work fine for the money you want to spend.

I'll second what tunaman said about the shimano reels. I would suggest the 4500 or bigger when being used for stripers. It holds a bit more line and has the gear ratio you need when a bigger fish runs and you have to haul it back in. The baitrunner feature makes it easier to sit back and have something to drink if it is a slow day, incase you hook up when you are not paying close enough attention.Comment
