heh so its time to get a new computer ive got cases among cases and hard drives but i need other things like the mother board,cpu,graphics card ,sound card etc its gotta haul #$@ and the sound has to be good any suggestions?

well if its gotta haul....then you need an AMD Athalon my friend. Or an Optetron dual core, I dont know how those are for gaming though. Get 2 gigs or more gigs of ram also.

i'd honestly go for a budget performance system.

Pentium D 805: $110
The 805 can be overclocked to 4ghz if you have adequate cooling

Intel chipset based motherboard
The nforce motherboards aren't as stable for overclocking the intel chips. Make sure you get a board with voltage adjustments.

7600gs or x1800: $110 - $150
These cards will be enough to run steam games at decent resolutions.

best sound card on the market

2gb performance ram
the better the ram, the better your overclock. Also, it will be easier to keep the ram if you upgrade anyway. Just make sure the motherboard is compatible with any ram you buy or your system won't work.

For good info, go to enthusiust sites IMO. Sites like HardOCP, Overclockers.com, Bit-tech.net, Tom's Hardware, etc. will likely give more of the info you're looking for and maybe a few interesting tidbits only enthusiusts would know/understand.

for that? buy an e-machine from best buy and put a sound card in it, steam games dont need a hard core system to run, but i dont know much about music mixers.

The system I suggested was very budget minded aside from the sound card. Once some good conroe chips roll out you should be able to go nuts and buy top of the line everything.
