AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
Just take the job and show up with all the guys. If he asks if they are Mexicans say no...they are americans.
sounds good to me. If he starts giving you static just let him know that you would be more than happy to talk to him about this with the Hispanic Consumers Coucil, Hispanic Business Owners Association and a local news channel (we have these two groups here in Va, i'm sure you have something like that near you). Plus we have a news station that does "on your side" segments where they fight for the little man. If he realizes that a great deal of bad press could come down on him i think he'd fold. Now i certainly dont expect you to do this, but it is an option.
If he didnt stipulate it in the contract "no mexicans" then in the end he's SOL, no matter what he demands. Just let him try and argue that in court...."i told him no mexicans." I dont think that would go over too go in front of the judge.
good luck on your decision, i know you're stuck between a rock and a hard case.

If he's creating this much trouble before he's a customer, what will happen later when he start paying you? There are some jpbs that are more trouble than they are worth.
LOL Tuna thats a good idea I think I'll end up taking it and sechule it for when he's on a vaction anyways. Slap him with a 10% contracting fee and tell him I couldn't use my guys, so I contracted it out but still use my employee's and if he doesn't want to pay then I'll just serve him in court(has been done before)
Ceaser- NO not really considering most of my crew is hispanic I can give the others off and give the hispanic's other days off. I'm the only one that doesn't get days off. Winter come soon
SC - when that day with out a mexican thing happened my guys where off anyways they can do what ever they want on their time
I would go with Tunamans advice, because well, he is the man.
I don't have anything new to say except to compliment the fact that you are 23 years old and have the courage to take out 500,000 to potentially make the rest of your life for you.
$500,000 is what I would expect a sum of money that would break a person for the rest of their life at such a young age, however since you have almost paid off 20% of it already, that is a good sign.
Not many people have the "balls" anymore to be an entrepreneur like that anymore from my point of view.
Good luck, and if you considering not taking this guy up on his offer make sure you at least pass him by with the "I have legal US citizens, not illegal aliens working for me". What would you have to lose?
honestyl he would have a hard time finding a landscaping crew around here that doesnt contain mexicans. Unless you need the job really bad i would say pass on it. There are some jobs that come to us that we will refuse just because we have dealt with them before and it was more hassle than it was worth. We are also a very small carpentry company made up of 3 employee's so i know where your at with your contract.
