    LOL criminals are stoopid :D

Being in the security industry, I have done quite a few camera systems as crime deterents. Some covert and most purposefully obvious. In most situations the covert applications are done at a time and in such a way that noone would know the camera was even there and the suspect are generally caught performing the act within a short amount of time. Other covert applications involve installing an operational dummy device that hides/houses the camera to differing degrees of success of actually masking its true purpose. Generally used for longer periods of time so people just forget to think about it.

Our company was recently contracted to put in some cameras for a service depot for the trucking industry. This company runs 24hrs a day so actually making this job truly covert was impossible. The devices we put in ( that both "somewhat" fit the area and moreso the budget they had ) didn't mask their intention well. This is where it gets amusing.

I was called to the company to make a few changes in their setup to allow easier viewing and recording of some recent events. These individuals, knowing the camera was there and knowing they were about to commit multiple felonious acts, decided their best course of action was to mask the camera lense.

So how do these genious' carry out their brilliant plan?

Well one walked right up to the camera, face first, with a tube of caulk in his hand.....

The other prodigy walks right by the camera, about 10 seconds later a mystery thumb is putting (get this) glass tape over the lense. Ol' boy musta figured that didn't work too well so the next day he uses whiteout over a small section of the tape to block it out .

Of course there are multiple cameras overlapping each other so as to have a panoramic view. Got some excellent footage of both of these guys faces and profile as they commited multiple felonies tampering with the cameras......LOL 's

Tampering with cameras is a felony? When I was younger I used to think it was hilarious to stick oreos to cameras. Those things would stick for weeks.

Hehe..this thread reminds me of the days I used to work for the tv show COPS. I was responsible for updating a portion of their website...specifically..Dumb Criminals. I used to get a ton of emails from various police stations regarding stupid criminals getting caught. I wished I could remember details of specific stories cause there was a lot I found amusing.
