Butane and Gas Powered Iron

I just got a gas powered iron from Radio Shack, and was wondering if the butane should be leaking when putting it into the iron. There is a resivoir when the butane is supposed to go, along with a one way valve. When I press the valve down when the butane canister, a lot of butane leaks from the bottom of the applicator, and also where the valve is on the iron. Most of the butane gets into the iron, but I am just wondering if this is normal.

If you can figure out a way to do it would out some leaking, let me know. When I fill my lil touch I think only about 1/2 goes in there.
