    Building a computer....Need advice...

Hows it going guys? My computer recently exploded and I am in need of a new one. My budget is around 650-700. I mainly use it for graphic design. I'm going to part out my old computer so I already have....
    -(2) LCD Monitors
    -(2) CD drives
    -(1) DVD drive
    -Floppy Disk drive
    -Radeon 7000 Videocard(PCI)
    -(3) 256 ram

So basically the only other items I need are...

    -Case -Aspire Blackblack X-Plorer
-Motherboard -Intel D865GVHZL Intel Socket 478 Motherboard MicroATX Motherboard
    -Powersupply -Aspire PS

I also want to run dual screens for my setup so I will also need another video card to run the second monitor. If anyone has advice on what I should get feel free to post Thanks for the help guys!

    -Rob

I'm a big fan of Antec cases and power supplies. The quality is excellent, but the main reason is that thier customer service is outstanding. They shipped me a new front bezel at no charge even though I told them that the front door was broken off by my son, who was 1.5 at the time. The kicker was that the part was available for sale on their website. Instead of pointing me to the part, they sent one for free. I've bought two more cases from them since.

For $700.00 you should upgrade the MB, CPU, Memory, Case/PS, HD, and Video Card. Use the old optical drives and LCD's if you want.

    I like shopping here;

$700.00 should get you a pretty decent setup.

First: Never trust tigerdirect's rebates, they suck at following through with them. Probably only 1 in 50 work.

Second: Just get a new system. Don't save that old graphics card or anything.

      Third: here's a reccomendation...

Pentium D 805: This is a good budget proc. A monster overclocker. If you feed it enough wattage and cooling it can tackle most any application as well as top line processors. $111
Lian Li PC-V300: Sexy little case for under 100. $99
Seasonic S12: Great mid end power supply. $80
ASUS P5LD2-VM DH: Great mATX mobo with plenty of overclocking options $115

too lazy to link more. lol

go to hardocp or ocforums or something

For $700.00 I'd look at the Antec Sonata II. You get a nice case with a very quiet Antec 450 watt PS for around $100.00.

I tend to distrust any case/psu combo.

I'll give you that a $25.00 case + PSU is junk and should be avoided no matter what, but Antec makes a high quality product.

                Maybe you'll trust some reviews.

Most people with Sonata still replace their psu's eventually for something higher performance. Why not just start out with something better?

Antech power supplies are ok. Their TruePower series are much better. If it comes pre-installed, trash it IMHO.

Sonata II's come with 450 watt TruePower PSU's. The original came with 380 watt TruePower PSU's. For a $700.00 budget you cannot do much better than this case at around $100.00.

It's a 450 Watt TruePower PSU, most people on a $700.00 budget would be thrilled to have a quality case with a very nice PSU like that. IF he needs to upgrade down the road he still can, but why not start out with something that he can trust?
