aftermarket xbox 360 cooling fans ?

i just recently bought another 360 ( i first bought one the day they came out but sold it a week later for a profit ) , well anyways i saw in the store a add-on cooling system for only 20 dollars but i wasnt sure if it was worth it , it says it extends the life by cooling the system cooler. i just paid 420 dollars for this and i dont want it to crap out on me in a few motnhs or even a year or so. is this just a gimmick or would it be a cheap preventive measure in extending life of your 360 , thanks

Just don't stick it in an enclosed space. I am tired of reading complaints from people who were stupid enough to stick a powerful and compact computing system into the same enclosed space they had their DVD player in, and then complained when it overheated.

If you MUST stick it in an enclosed space, then a normal fan would be fine to keep air moving over it.

It defently would help granted its a quality fan. You can never have a cool enough processor. The cooler you keep your 360, the less likely its going to be to overheat and glitch out or randomly shut off.
How much is it going to help? I couldnt tell you without seeing how the stock cooling is designed and how the aftermarket one fits in to it/helps. But it couldnt hurt.

        Definitely helps.
I have a Nyko Intercooler and there is a very noticeable difference in temperature. Will it extend the life of my 360? Cant say for sure, but for $20 I will take the chance

There is a fan stand for the same price but you can only use it vertical. And from what I have been reading the air flow is not as good vertical.

Also as stated make sure you have it in a open area.
The fan stand must be turned on and off manually. The nyko intercooler turns on/off automatically with the 360

can't you add anykind of fan to an xbox 360? because if I'm nor horably mistaken you could even convert it to be liquid cooled if you so choose.

the xbox is just a computer so you should be able to upgrade it as you go just like any computer right? void your warentee probubly but ya know.

I should go see what kind of processor my Xbox uses....

I guess if you really wanted to spend the time on it. I don't have enough time as it is, its easier for me to spend $20 with a 30 second install.

ok well it looks like im gunna get one in a week or two i guess another 2o bucks cant hurt. so far im acuatlly a little dissapointed in the 360 , the graphics really arent that much better than some of the newer original xbox games , although i do like a few of the 360 only titles. so far if got dead rising and perfect dark both pretty fun games. one more question , does anybody think the 60 dollar warrenty is worth it for 2 years of full coverage ? pEaCe

The graphics are for the most part the developers problem. The power of the 360 hasnt even come close to being fully used.

There are quite a few games out that have excellent graphics.
IMO the warrenty is worth it, but its up to you.

Yep, just like what fire1811 said, wait for the developers to catch up. Example: Halo 1 graphics vs. Halo 2, or even the first generation PS2 games compared to games like God Of War, which came out a good 4+ years after the system was released.

Its a trap, dont do it. Theyre useless unless youre putting your 360 in an enclosed space or if you live somewhere ridiculously hot. Spend your money on something more useful.

Five of my friends bought a 360 the day it came out and all of them took the warranty. After 5 months, within a few weeks, three of them had to send back their consoles to MS for replacement. They all had overheating problems even tough they kept them in places with good air circulation.

If your 360 is out of warranty, and it's a first gen, gut the mofo and install some fans if you have the knowledge.

If your 360 is first gen and you have the warranty dont spend your money on fixing a problem microsoft is obligated to fix.
